Tired of pop unders etc? MAC

Ok, if you run a MAC and are tired of pop unders like the ones from streammate.com or livejasmin.com etc... here is how to terminated them from all browsers on your computer forever. Seriously, it will speed up your browsing more that you could imagine, especially if your hunting tubes etc for your content being ripped off...

Goto Applications/Utilities/ and open Terminal.app

Type sudo nano /etc/hosts

it will ask you for your password since this is a system file....

Add the following to the file

127.0.0.1 streammate.com
127.0.0.1 http://creatives.livejasmin.com

Add any other sites you want to block from your computer in the same fashion.

Do a Control-o and Return to save.

Test... streammate and livejamin popunders should now be gone. in all browsers on your computer for good.

On a side note, just keep the Host file open on your desktop, add to it any other annoying damn pop under or anything else you find to be a pain in the ass as you go... just remember to do the Control-O and Return after each to save the changes and block whatever for good.

Why only MAC? Very easy in Windows...

Run notepad as administrator.

Got to Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts

I've took the windows vaccine years ago and since the cure, I was not sure of the step by step on that platform. But thanks for sharing it so others can benefit :)

Popunders are such an archaic marketing scheme. I prefer to just boycott any sites that use popunders and simply not visit them anymore.

they may be old but not really archaic, most of the big news sites still use them.

Just the fact that they KNOW you are not interested in their shit, so they present it as a pop under, makes almost no sense whatsoever.

The only great thing about LiveJazmin and Steammate is that they make surfing tubes SO FUCKING ANNOYING that their bullshit may actually drive people back to paysites, so they can avoid the nonsense.

I love annoying shit on tube sites - the more the better!

Pop-ups, pop-unders, redirects, viruses, chat message ads, ads with annoying audio... it's all great stuff - more power to the annoying tubes! :thumbsup
