thats how it usually goes. I have 3 macs. I just wanted to see what it was about.
I was impressed, but at the same time, I felt like I was lacking something. And those dual cores just suck. I need a dual quad these days to get a rise out of me.
At least this HP has an i7, which has 4 cores but 8 logical processors. Now we're talkin..

i am for sure no Mac hater, actually i have worked with Macs since 1988 - from Mac OS 4 or 5 to OS X and I currently own a Macbook Pro. but I had to put Windows on it because in a company network based on Windows and certain software that is simply not available for Mac, I wasted too much time in looking for workarounds. if i would work standalone and start from zero (for example without email history of about 45,000 emails in 15 accounts in Outlook) I probably would go Mac. but I have to say also Windows 7 is not that bad and it works flawlessly since the day I installed it

Don't they have IMAP where you live?

;)

:)

Also, OP, MAC means something very specific when you put it in caps like that

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_address

you can just say Mac when referring to the computer.

_Richard_ 01-26-2010 07:41 PM

congrats mang!

CYF 01-26-2010 08:01 PM

congrats, you'll enjoy it :thumbsup

seeric 01-26-2010 08:08 PM

beta-tester 01-26-2010 08:09 PM

Apple really rocks! Especially lately with their new mac line, it's insane! I'm looking forward to tomorrow's even. We should see something really new and powerful! Can't wait.

i hate IMAP - never works the way i want ;)

i could set up an exchange server, copy all existing mail over there etc. but then we are back at the point where I ask myself: WHY?

just to work with a system because it's cool? because you can trust me with this - after working with both for 20 years - none of them is better. just different. for every point you tell me that is better with Mac i show you something thats better with Windows. thats like discussing if being catholic or protestant is better - and you know where that ends.

I'm a new MAC owner and I hate to say it, as I do enjoy the sleek MAC side, it's great for dicking around and looking pretty, but I had in install Bootcamp and put Windows on it in order to be productive.

Why?

Because my work flow in Windows is fast and I know what works. Having to learn MAC software for video is just not worth it for me at this point. Maybe later when I have nothing to do and have time to kill, I'll give it another chance, but right now, I have work to do and have to be efficient. MAC was slowing me down due to the learning curve on every piece of software I installed.

With that said, my MAC runs Windows better than any of my PC's ever did. I'll also note that MACS "Time Machine" is totally bad ass, as is "Spaces" and the new track pad. The amount of fingers I move on it will determine what it does. That's pretty cool. But again, I'm doing my work on the PC side. :Oh crap

How many apps are written in Windows to use those cores?

You summed it up perfect.
Aside from that there is a mac documentary about macs. "welcome to macintosh. It goes into the good and the bad. Mainly how mac is not the little guy, and anti-establishment how people like to believe, or want to believe. They are just as greedy, if not more than microsoft. Mac, with it's proprietary BS almost forces you to get the latest products in order for everything to work, and the mac sheep, yes thats what they are, sheep, buy into it, and fork over 2-3 k each year for the latest gadget. Mac did well by indoctrinating their users into thinking they have a superior product. Macs crash too, but you will never hear a mac user admit that.

What software were you using for video on Windows?

I think the point is, really, he can't drive FCP and hence is blaming OSX for slowing down his workflow.
