I never have and was wondering why people do.

That's pretty easy...nicotine is a mood altering drug.

i got mine because ive always wanted a tattoo. i think they look cool (depending on what you get) and if you get them to represent something its memorable. mine is a design on my right bicep that raps 1/2 way around my arm. i got in in college after i went through a lot of shit. every time i look at it, reminds me of some really great times

IMO, 90% of people start because they think its "cool." a gf I had in high school pressured me into smoking with her mom... I was 16 and had no interest in smoking but they wouldnt get off my back so I did. fucking white trash...

I have one small one. I got it because I wanted it.

I chose the symbol I wanted when I was 19, it was the motive of an area of France I was living. I also decided it would be on my chest left side above my heart.

But I wanted to wait to get my one tattoo at a time when it meant someting important to me.

I finally got the tattoo when I was 29. It means somethig special to me and my wife.


I don't really like tattoo's in general, but my own I love. I've told my much younger sisters if they want a tatoo to submit the design to me, and if they still want the same thing 10 years later I'll sign off on it.

I guess it depends on the person. Some are an attitude statement, some are to be different and some are meaningful.
I've always wondered what drives people to facial piercing though. What drives someone to put 2" gaps in the their ears or rings through their lips?

There are obviously loads of reasons for doing something.. I had my ears streched to a 12 mm and had my lip pierced about 5 years ago. Left them in for about two years and then got rid of them..

To be unique. To symbolise events in their life that mean something.

The main reason any of us get tattoos - because we think they look cool.

Certain tattoos hold certain meanings for people, but really, if at the core of it all we didn't think they looked cool we wouldn't get them.

I get them for a couple of reasons... I liek how they look and the culture as well as to mark certain events in my life that I have gone through

That depends on who you talk to.. I know alot of scene sluts that get tattoos because their boyfriend (at least for the next 2 weeks) is a tattoo artist...

I have many tattoos and I started 15 years ago.... Is like a vice, a great and colorful addiction :1orglaugh

People think it makes them look cool. I suppose 10-15 years ago people got them to be different. But now NOT having a tattoo makes you different. NOT having one makes you the non-conformist. I'm proud of my inkless body. I don't need a tattoo to try to get attention like I'm some sort of rejected red-haired step child just begging to be loved.

I have a full body tattoo of myself only with a bigger cock...

I fucking HATE tattoos.

Nothing pisses me off more than to see some hot chick with a smokin' body, only to then see she has a fucking tramp stamp or something even more stupid on the front.

I've been adding to my tattoos for 27 years.
I'm currently about half covered. That includes neck, and full sleeves right down to the top of the hand, knuckles, & fingers.

Why?

Because I love art in all it's forms, and many of them represent something to me that I hold dear enough to me that I wanted a reminder of it forever.

A couple years back I tried to kill myself and landed myself in the hospital for awhile, and my boyfriend was the only one who helped me through it while all of my friends bailed on me. I got a tattoo on my wrist to remind me of it any time I felt like slicing my wrists. It's helped. Is that a dumb reason to get a tattoo?

I think I got my first tattoo because I wanted to see what it felt like but it was a long time ago and I was kinda high so there may have been other reasons....I got my second tattoo because my buddies made an appointment for me so I figured what the hell....and my next tattoo I kinda got as a bonus of sorts from Meatcash back when I was sending them a bit of traffic :)

most people get them because other people get them and they think its cool, so that couldn't be any further from the truth.

Several years later I think it's awesome and I'm proud of it, so no regrets.

So people smoke and get tats for the same reason?
