If you could freeze yourself now and be brought back 7,000 years in the future...

Would you do it?
You have no idea what the future is like. it could be a beautiful peaceful place with no disease or hunger or poverty.
Or it could be a terrible war torn world where the world is run by robots and all humans are killed off.

would you do it?

POed-poster 01-30-2010 06:53 PM

The world probably won't exist in 7000 years. You've been watching too much of the Si-Fi channel.

alias 01-30-2010 06:54 PM

Are you high?

fatfoo 01-30-2010 06:54 PM

I don't wanna freeze myself.

I just hope I can get a ticket for another Karen O concert. (without a scalper selling me a fake ticket)

CYF 01-30-2010 06:54 PM

I'd do it, but not for 7000 years. 100 years would be cool.

Spunky 01-30-2010 07:54 PM

I don't think I want to see the world in another 100 years, the way we are destroying it

L-Pink 01-30-2010 07:57 PM

I'm a technological idiot as it is.

.

chupachups 01-30-2010 08:12 PM

Why not freeze for 100 years and then use current technology to see the world 6900 years later?

beerptrol 01-30-2010 08:14 PM

ill just freeze my sperm in a freezer bag and they can thaw it as needed

I don't know what will happen to the world within the next few years...
Also to think that someone will take care of your body for the next 7000 years no matter of any circumstances would be too overconfident...

the Shemp 01-31-2010 02:51 AM

7000 years?
serious freezer burn...

Waddymelon 01-31-2010 02:59 AM

Fuck yeah... I'm sure that either commercial space flight would be available by then, or mankind would be back in the stone age. Either one would be pretty neat.

Naechy 01-31-2010 02:44 PM

do not want sorry

Gerco 01-31-2010 02:54 PM

The only hope that there would be anything to wake up to in 7000 years would be the end of religion on the earth.

I'd think twice before letting anyone freeze ya:

Quote:

Johnson writes that in July 2002, shortly after the Red Sox slugger died at age 83, technicians with no medical certification gleefully photographed and used crude equipment to decapitate the majors' last .400 hitter.

Holes were drilled in Williams' severed head for the insertion of microphones, then frozen in liquid nitrogen while Alcor employees recorded the sounds of Williams' brain cracking 16 times as temperatures dropped to -321 degrees Fahrenheit.

The head was balanced on an empty can of Bumble Bee tuna to keep it from sticking to the bottom of its case.

Johnson describes watching as another Alcor employee removed Williams' head from the freezer with a stick, and tried to dislodge the tuna can by swinging at it with a monkey wrench.

The technician, no .406 hitter like the baseball legend, missed the can with several swings of the wrench and smacked Williams' head directly, spraying "tiny pieces of frozen head" around the room.
Cryonics Whistleblower Details Macabre Abuse of Ted Williams?s Frozen Head

Pretty good read for anyone considering the deep freeze.

I don't think this planet will last 7000 years.

Danny B 01-31-2010 08:28 PM

I'll check it out. But only when I've lived my life in this time, not leaving behind loved ones.

It was national news, that's how I originally heard about it. The guy came out with his book, it got picked up by al the majors, the company sued him and got an injunction that delayed the release of the book but I'm guessing they lost the suit because the book is out and checking today it can still be purchased from major retailers.

I'm not saying it's word for word gospel, but it WAS big news back when it broke. Just google "Ted Williams Head" :thumbsup

You're naive to say the least...
