Got me a SWEET new laptop today...
Toshiba Satellite
I am so proud of this damn thing, I had to share. Office Depot has them at a steal right now, $699. It isn't often that I buy myself something, but this is a deal I just couldn't pass up.. Wow nice specs and price.
|
I like Toshibas.
|
That is a real decent machine.
The only "not so decent" thing it's the graphic card, with those specs it should be at least a card with dedicated mem, but it will do the job anyway! :thumbsup |
I have once made a mistake of buying a 16" laptop. It was a massively huge piece of shit I had to haul around, impossible to open on the airplane or in a car, requiring huge fucking bag to carry around in, etc. You learn as you go along. If you want power and large screen, expand your desktop. If you are opting for a laptop, go for something portable.

TRUST me, you don't want me to have a good graphics card, because then I'd start to think I could design. :1orglaugh :upsidedow |

I actually did look very hard at one of those, but as garce says, twice the money for half the system wasn't my idea of a good deal. I upgraded from a Toshiba I had had for nearly 5 years, so I guess I am a Toshiba girl.. lol |

Damn. I`m running a shitty Core2 duo 1.86 on Vista. The bloody thing hasn`t crashed since I bought it over two and a half years ago. The side of the case is off and I`m continually plugging in new hardware. Just today I ripped out my EMU0404 soundcard (cause I`m getting a new machine dedicated to recording music...) This bitch has been on since July of 2007, and its only been restarted when MS Update makes me restart it. I only shut it off when I plug something new into it. I love it. I`m going to hug it now. |
We had Satellites before the current Latitudes. Really liked it in the beginning, but towards the end (2 years) it ran pretty hot and got loud. goodgirl's started doing that after about a year. A 500 GB drive is going to do a lot of spinning, so be advised.
That is why I went to SS. |
Nice pick up Tam!
|
steel deal! Good for you :thumbsup

roxy, I am all about Dell Desktops... wouldn't have any other kind of desktop at all. But I have had a couple of Dell Laptops and I didn't like them at all..... my husband swears by them, but not my thing. But for anything else, it's Dell all the way. :thumbsup |
And in England this would cost about £650 :( Who lives in America and has a spare room I can move into? :P
