Question for MMA fighters/fans.

The other day VS had some fights on and in one of them a guy got fucked up pretty bad. He will obviously have to have stitches in his head and it looked like he had a broken nose as well.

What I was wondering is: If you get hurt in the ring during a fight, does the promoter/company putting on the fight pay for your medical bills or do you have to pay for those out of your pocket?

yes the promoters for the top companies pay and get you fixed on spot. But the smaller promotions you pay out of pocket or through your own insurance.

Cool, thanks for the answer. My buddy and I were watching the fight and thought, "Hell, these guys could spend every cent they get from the fight on medical bills."

That was the fight in question. He got rocked. In that fight I assume Diego made at least a few hundred grand. But I have seen guys on the undercards of these big events get messed up pretty bad and you know they are only get 10-30K for the fight. I'm not sure if they have to pay their corner out of their money, but if so, once you pay the corner, trainers, medical and taxes, not much left.

I ran an amateur fight league in Jersey....and yes all the fighter are covered for injuries sustain during the fight.

I dunno about your figures, as far as I know, chuck liddell was getting 250,000 for winning and that was one of the top wins wasnt it, I could be totally wrong as I have no idea really what they make but thats the last figure i thought i heard along with the same description.

Sanchez is good and bring the excitement(all fights besides that one) but he is no chuck liddell...

Just going back through a lot of the shows where you can find the payouts it seems like the main event fighters, if they have some name recognition, get around 200-400K. I had read that when Liddell fought Ortiz they both got near a million, but that is pretty rare. Most of the guys on the cards get 10-30K
