PHP Programmer Needed (CMS)

The guys I would normally use for something like this are very busy. So I have to look for someone else who is highly recommended. I am not looking for a bottom of the barrel cheap-o here either.

I am looking to have a CMS built for a modeling site I am putting together. It is explained a bit more in THIS POST. It need to be essentially a better version of Model Mayhem in version one. Over time, I will add in some additional premium features similar to onemodelplace.

The goal is to start running my model recruiting through the site to fill up the profiles and get pictures. Over time, I would expand it beyond SW Michigan/Michigan and keep building it out from there. The money aspect to the site is not a major concern for me at the moment. It is about consolidating my recruting into a better business model, short and long term.

The next step after this is set up will be to find a hosting partner who can handle one side of the business as I develop the other. Building sites for newbies (girls/couples who want to get into the business) and supplying them with hosting, registrar, billing, scripts, coaching, traffic and so on (i.e. minimal risk). I will also have a stand alone hosting option.

There is much more to the overall business plan, and stuff I am working on. So a third, long term minded coder, who does quality work would be nice to have around for when konrad or borked can't handle what I need because they are very busy.

Fire away with some recommendations ladies.

Never heard of that second dude. I will peep out Stu. Thanks champ.

Good coders you typically have to book in advance, which is not a problem. Eliminates a lot of grief, and you get what you pay for. Plus I am busy working on traffic shit right now. However, I would like to get started or booked within next 15-45 days.

:thumbsup

Brandon Stills is pretty well known here. I have seen Custom CMSs of his.

Obviously Stuart is well known as well, but he may be bound to another company as he is from time to time.

Brandon Rocks too :thumbsup

Take a look at oDesk. I've been using them for a number of projects. Look under Software Development.

I never understood the need for a custom CMS with all those great "out of the box customizable" ones already out there.

Because people do not want to pay your monthly leasing fee, or $30k for your CMS?

I can get a decent CMS (for my current needs) done for $2000-5000.00 and then upgrade it as I go along over the years. Then, I get it working or tailored the way I like, and if I need something changed. I do not have a lot of grief. I also do not have to pay for features I do not want, or will never use.

If your still looking feel free to hit me up. I would have no problem building what you require. Have loads of experience and examples of work I have done. And can get references if needed.

It may be a little hard to pull off a better version of MM with that... $5k is a little more than 2 weeks worth of having a good coder working for you. Though I'm sure you'll be able to get what you need. I'd hit you up if I wasn't busy for the next little while. Sounds like a fun project.

I am sure I can get version one rolled out easily for that (as I said, there will be the initial version and then upgrades as time go on for premium features and other things mentioned). I have had more cumbersome CMS's done for less by good programmers.

The main guys I use for my existing CMS work and modifications are borked (Andy) and konrad. Two of the best programmers in the adult marketplace. Neither one of them are cheap. But they are worth every penny!

Unfortunately, this keeps them both very busy. So they can't always take on bigger projects. But they are honest about it. Which I absolutely love! They do not take on work they can't give 100% to and meet time commitments. Which is a quality few programmers and designers have.

I know what you're saying. I've just been browsing MM over the past few months, hence the comment. Though their system sucks a lot of the time, I can definitely see someone coming up with a better one.

That sounds like a complicated specialized job. Good luck with finding a PHP Programmer.

Yep.

I have learned over the years with CMS's that you are not going to get it 100% right on first roll out. So I break it into several phases. The 'basics' first. Doing the bare minimum required for basic needs. Then later, I will start adding in the new features, and tweaks.

This manages to keep the frustration level down for all involved, and a happy working relationship. Trying to accomplish everything in version one is really kinda crazy. So you have to work out a good balance.

I am working on the first version basically being profiles, and centralized communication part. Which is what I need for my models I recruit, and to communicate with the existing. I will then start adding in the other features for those who are not models applying for work with my company, or existing models. Then I can add in premium features and more ad driven revenue streams etc..

IM sent to stills, and noseknows, and a handful of others. I will work my way through the list based on their timeline, prices, and examples of work.

As I said, I am looking for a long term coding partner to add to my borked/konrad clan. I understand these guys get busy, so I need to have someone who I trust for overflow.

how complex does it needs to be and how fast do you need it done?
can you send some more details to celebempire {at} gmail.com

Monetary compensation is what makes the world go around

if your goal is to get this done as quick as possible here are my tips

1. draw using visio or even on plain paper, every inch of the site, what each button will do, written instructions will make your project take 10x longer

2. I prefer having my sites done in PHP, I use to be all .net but it seems to be a lack of .net developers in this business at least, hotlocalescorts.com is .asp and so is easyppv.com and when I need fixes or upgrades its way harder to find guys

3. good guys cost good money, now this doesnt mean that if you pay good money you will have a good guy, but instead of finding cheaper and having your project take a million years, focus on those who can show you real samples of sites they have done that are complex enough for you to be confident that they can do your site

4. dont pay all upfront, break the project down in parts, and make a payment then as they finish that make another payment

5. reply right away, make sure your developer has ICQ or Gtalk etc, when a developer is in a working mode he can bang out lots of stuff, so if he hits you up be able to reply right away

6. hardest tip, never get intop a state of mind where "this guy knows my project already, ill just wait and wait". if you get bullshit and delays, MOVE ON, once a programmer delivers excuses and bullshit you are doomed, just find someone else, you will anyway have to move on, you might as well do it sooner rather then later.

Again spec it out, I cant stress that enough, back in the day id send guys written instructions, it was a nightmare, now that I draw the plans out with visio, the programmer can quickly see what I have in mind, the designer can see the layout im after and things move quickly.

good luck in your peoject

Thanks buddy. I use a very similar plan of attack for new sites (unless I have an example site I was to base it on) especially the drawing of a picture. I will draw it out, including all details, scan it. Then send it to the designer and programmer.

Good tips.
