I've seen more than a few tube sites but the designs don't really stand out as anything impressive. Mostly, just simple and content-oriented. Are there any really amazing tube site designs? If not amazing, which one at least do you think looks the best?

Godsmack showed me the new template that they've been working on that will come with Smart Tube Pro in the near future and it was one of the best tube designs I've seen to date. So good that there would be no reason to hire a designer; just swap out the logo and call it a day.

I was curious what was out there, and if there were any varieties in the layout. Seems like they're all using the same widthxheight sizes for the thumbnails. Not much variation.

Agreed. But, most run on generic scripts which are readily available and most (free) tube owners don't bother to customize these scripts. Anyways, I just set-up a new free one that is updated on a daily basis. I'll be making a few more changes over the coming week but it is nearly to where I want it to be. Great design but the header background color needs changing to match the header I have a really high resolution and can see the sides where the image ends :)

Yes, it is indeed very good.. designer is busy putting it all into CSS, so hopefully we will have it ready for release soon..

people need to stick to layouts that the user is used to, all this fancy bullshit = higher bounce rates and less repeat traffic, the youtube layout is what most new comers to your site will be used to, stick to that format, yeah webmasters wont like it, but your bank account will, have your pick

You won't know unless you test, test, test. All sites didn't start out looking like Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Youtube. Many popular profitable sites still don't and never will. If your tube site looks like 1,000 other tube sites, you won't stand out very much or be very memorable either.

I like PornHub. I guess it's a fairly clean design and mostly content-based, but it has a nice logo and colors.

they all look the same to me, I can't distinguish one from the other to be honest

sometimes i think simplicity is the key.
