Fraud DefenseTM prevents fraud and saves you money. By stopping transactions before they reach the bank authorization network, you will avoid both transaction and bank authorization network fees.
Fraud DefenseTM doesn't hide behind mysterious, cryptic and vague scoring systems, yet allows you to set your own fraud controls to suit your business. You can choose from the Fraud DefenseTM list of anti-fraud controls that include Identity Authentication, Order Integrity, and Credit & Velocity Controls:
Identity Authentication Controls
US Location Verification
Verify the existence of all US addresses (ZIP code, street, state, etc.). Merchants who ship goods can find bogus addresses before an order is accepted instead of when the shipping ticket is prepared. US Location Verification goes beyond AVS, which only checks street number and ZIP code.
Email Bounce Check
Reject transactions that do not have valid email addresses. Automatically abort or refund sale transactions when the system receives notice of an undeliverable email receipt sent to the customer within 12 hours.
Anonymous Surfer Block
Reject transactions from customers attempting to hide their identity by using an anonymous proxy server or email domain.
High Risk Country Filter
Automatically block transactions from countries with a track record of high incidences of fraud.
Name and Address Junk Filter
Automatically block transactions with suspicious patterns in the name and address fields. Reject transactions with profanity, "junk" patterns (i.e., asdf, aaaaaa), or invalid email address formats.
Order Integrity Controls
Negative Database
Decline transactions based on IP address, email address, dot-extension (top level domain), or credit card number.
Order Integrity
Deny hackers from changing the details (i.e., price, item, etc.) of your order just before purchase. If the data sent with the transaction does not match the encrypted order integrity data, the transaction is rejected.
Credit & Velocity Controls
Declined Order Limits
Limit the number of times a customer may attempt to make a purchase to prevent excessive transaction fees.
Approved Order Limits
Set maximum credit, time, and item limits to detect and control fraud. Stop customers from placing too many orders or charging too much money on the same card for similar orders.
Maximum Credit Risk Limits
Set credit limits to detect and control fraud. Any transaction above the set credit amount in the set amount of time will be rejected.
Subscription/Membership Limits
Prevent members from taking undue advantage of free or discounted trials. Members cannot sign up for the same subscription repeatedly. This increases conversion rates.
Virtual Terminal Limits
Set virtual terminal limits to detect and control fraud. Any transaction above the set dollar amount will display a warning before processing a virtual terminal transaction.

Fraud DefenseTM Rates
Fraud DefenseTM is $0.10 per transaction.
Alert: Fraud DefenseTM replaces Risk Management as of December 6, 2002. Merchants who were already using Risk Management will be given a 10-day trial period to use Fraud DefenseTM at their current Risk Management rate. This trial period will expire at midnight, Sunday, December 15, 2002. Beginning December 16, 2002, merchants choosing to continue using Fraud DefenseTM will be charged a rate of $0.10 per transaction.

Access Security
Limited access to view full credit card numbers. Only users who have permission to view full credit card numbers or to issue transactions can see the full credit card number.
