Well they said it is good but i dont want to pay monthly fee for anything no matter how good it is.

I am considering picking it up, but Champions Online was a let down and this is being run by the same people. So, I might wait a little bit...

the promo video looked great, waiting for some recommendations though

Its alright, nothing amazingly special. It gets old since there isn't much depth in missions/quests. Its largely unfinished IMO because of this.

You can only be two factions right now, but you always have to start as the Federation until you unlock the Klingon's.

The PvP is ok, but its more like a big MMO-arcade shoot 'em up than any real strategy. Cryptic taking over didn't do this game any favours, and they did rush it out the door.

Sad. That Star Wars online game sucked as well even though it had awesome potential.

I ordered the game so its ready for me when I am back home next week.
Have to try it :)

Reviews are not good so far.

Having looked through the site the premise to an ole trekie was certainly interesting but after the reviews I have read and lol all of these types of games while offering a different genre still pail in comparison to everything available in WOW.

All of these types of games basically offer the same things based in different types of environments. I have spoken to many people who became burned out on WOW only to return when the new game they tried failed to deliver everything they already had in WOW and they found they were just leveling another toon.:2 cents:

STO is more ship-based and therefore less like WoW than a lot of MMORPGs. While I have yet to play it, my co-host on my gaming podcast says that the first 10 levels are pretty slow because you have a crappy ship but once you hit level 11 then the game starts to pick up rather rapidly.

I would say try it out if your are a fan of MMO's that are based more on ship battles like EVE Online or Pirates of the Burning Sea (different kind of ships of course).

My guess is that it will SUCK after 1 month!
And most likely turn into a care bear game just like Ultima Online.....which was awesome back in the day before the socker moms started complaining and ruining the game!
