I don't know.

wdsguy 02-08-2010 03:45 PM

I've been using AVG/ESET last few years but recently i have been using microsoft security essentials and its been pretty good. Malwarebyte is pretty good too and theres a free version

Lonny 02-08-2010 03:49 PM

Been using Panda Cloud for the last 10 months or so. Does the trick.

avira without question check out some of the benchmarks it beats almost all including the paid ones.

john FVC 02-08-2010 03:57 PM

Read a test last night and the Microsoft one came out top over all the other usual suspects. I never even knew they had one.. I use Avast myself.

Trust me.

My experience with FREE AV's is that they scan EXACTLY when you are working and make stuff slow and you cannot set the "start the scan time yourself".

If free AV's would catch all the bogey's, nobody would buy the paid versions anymore.
So that seems to be correct too IMO.

I did enjoy the free trials though.

www.antivirus.com is nice, panda or avg

Cyber Fucker 02-08-2010 04:42 PM

Avast, however, I wouldn't relay on only one anti-virus. I use some mix of free ones and paid ones.

MediaGuy 02-08-2010 04:47 PM

Grisoft's AVG Free is the lightest, fastest, bestest of the free anti-virii - plus you can set it's scan time to when you want or just stop it and click "Scan" before you leave the desk.

Yougotta be careful not to pick the version that's going to stop after a month ask you to buy (upgrade) - there's a full free version, you just have to drill down a little...

:D

I use Avast 5.0 and must say i am pretty happy how it work

FreeHugeMovies 02-08-2010 04:54 PM

Microsoft offers one and it's pretty good. No popups or anything like that. I've been using it for 3 months and it's doing well.

tomud 02-08-2010 05:04 PM

Avira from http://www.free-av.com or AVAST from http://www.avast.com

Not with Panda Cloud.

Been using it from since it came out of Beta and it's nimble, quick and effective.

SleazyBear 02-08-2010 07:56 PM

I have used avg on all but 4 of my machines, I had Microsoft Live One Care. In the last 4 months I have removed that stupid antivirus stuff on the families machines, all using avg. I removed the crap by first disabling it, then installing Microsoft Security Essentials, everything has been switched over to that.

Everyone thinks that Microsofts antivirus has been out 3 months, but it has been built into Live One Care for as long as it has been out, 2-3 years something like that. I run housecalls on my main machines once a week, just as a what if Microsoft didn't catch it. Never found anything, now with Avg housecalls would catch something all the time.

Helix 02-08-2010 07:56 PM

Using Avast on my windows box.

avast for sure

Raf1 02-09-2010 04:20 AM

I like the Eset package on some computers, but it's not free. I only have the free Avast on one computer and it pisses me off everytime I'm on that unit.

mabourque 02-09-2010 05:01 AM

Avast work for me :thumbsup

Dirty Lord 02-09-2010 05:02 AM

Avast, Avira and AVG.

Chosen 02-09-2010 06:59 AM

Avast :thumbsup

Used to use Avast but it was quite annoying as I used may different internet connections, and always had to hassle with settings / slowed the laptop etc. so once it expired I was determined not to prolong and look for something else.

Using Windows Security essentials for 6 months now and had no issues, people actually have lots of prejudices against Microsoft but it's not a first product I found that seems to be actually very much functional.

Arnox 02-09-2010 08:35 AM

Not downloading .exes from untrusted sources.

I've never used an anti virus.
