Prom Night In Mississippi
Interesting documentary: "Prom Night In Mississippi"
Opening lines went something like this .. "In 1954 the US Supreme Court ruled that US schools must integrate. In 1970 Charleston, Mississippi schools finally did" The basic story.. Until a few years ago they still hadn't integrated the high school prom. "In 1997 Morgan Freeman (a resident of Charleston since 1991) approached the school and offered to pay for the prom, provided it be racially integrated. The school declined Freeman's offer. In 2007 Freeman offered again, and the school agreed to move forward with an integrated prom." |
its amazing the amount of old rules still on the books across entire US
|
Wow, that is absolutely incredible. It's amazing, and disappointing, that that kind of segregation still exists.

Well, it is the choice of the students whether they want to go to the Prom or not.
They can have secret lovers, too - if they wish. I am correct, I think. |
