Cost of PHP vs ASP ?

In your experience what is the $/hour of a PHP programmer vs and ASP (or .net) programmer ?

well, cost to develop is not the only cost you need to consider...

mostly things that come after is the ones that will cost you more (in the end).
same with car... you buy it but then you need to fill the tank, pay the repairs, change tires etc...

My wild guess is that php is cheaper since more people know it and you have lots of resources and pre-built things online that you can (re)use...

if you need something with php feel free to hit me up (icq in sig)

Asp costs much much more, and thats yet another reason to stay away from it. Besides finding good asp coders is quite hard.

I can develop a asp app far less then the php guy but then again i have been coding in asp since the early 90s. its all depend on your application in my view.

You need a windows server license unless you use Mono. Also ASP isn't as widely available as PHP.

Use a framework with a well deployed language Python/Django, Ruby/Rails or PHP/Cake.

php will be cheaper;
- more programmers available
- said programmers work cheaper
- don't need to pay licenses for windows server, mssql, etc
