Typical Londoners - more worried about it delaying the busses than the wider picture. I am very open minded towards other cultures but given what *has* happened on London busses, he should be sacked for the pure fear he would have caused to those that had images of a blown up bus dancing in their heads. Not to mention that a Christian bus driver that had stopped to pray would have been fired much easier. I hate thinking that way but it is true. As it is, he is lucky nobody on the bus got freaked out enough to attack him out of fear.

Plus, the 24 bus sucks enough already.

Is there a small window of time that Muslims have to get their prays in by? If so then he is not an appropriate match for the job of bus driver. If not then he should do it at the end of his line before starting the next one.

I've used public busses in 8+ cities and never once had a driver stop for anything other than a scheduled bus stop/pickup.

OK, I lied. One time a bus driver in Austin TX had to stop because she was sick. Another driver arrived in a cab about 3 minutes later and we kept going.

Um, no they don't. They stop at bus stops and then at the end of their routes. London buses have been blown up by more than just Muslims. The Irish had their day with doing that too. So, it isn't just that he is Muslim but that anything that is done to make passengers worry about their safety should be a firing offence. Perhaps if he actually stopped and said something to the passengers about what he was about to do it wouldn't have been that much of a deal (other than people pissed off) but to just stop and do what looks like a demonstration and leave them locked in and worried without information is unforgivable regardless of his particular religion.

You all put up with way more over there than we would here then. In all the many many London buses I have been on only once has the driver stopped to do something dumb. This guy stopped to jump out and get a paper form a shop. That was followed by a passenger following him and pulling him back onto the bus and bitching about how it would make him late for work.
