Google buzz that is

XPays 02-11-2010 03:26 AM

these people are afraid of change

halfpint 02-11-2010 03:30 AM

I dont think it will be able to compete with Facebook and Twitter anyway. People are to comfortable using facebook and the other old social networking sites

That can be abused i see.

Iron Fist 02-11-2010 05:18 AM

I made sure I turned off all services.... I follow no one and no one follows me..

This feels like I signed up for something that I never asked to be signed up for (you know, like saying yes to that 2 day $1 trial, but you got the other 4 $39.95 subscriptions added on without your knowledge). I like Google, but they need to get bitchslapped for how they are handling this one.

georgeyw 02-11-2010 05:39 AM

I'm sick of all these myspace/facebook/twitter sites.

Does google auto create a profile without you visiting buzz?

Yes, its based off your Google Account settings, yeah, that one that controls all your Google services. And I think Picasa is publicly enabled by default in Buzz, so for instance, if you bookmarked or were fans of anyone in Picasa, you would already be following those people in Buzz, without you even knowing or touching anything in Buzz.

Nice huh?

I say turn it all off... time to show Google, who really has control, because right now, they really think they do. :disgust

magpan 02-11-2010 05:48 AM

Just thinking of how many start-ups will be pumping 'Buzz B2B marketing' today and on... I'm fucking tired of this crap as well.

I have 3 Google accounts (that I know of) that are a legacy from when they didn't have unified services and/or they hadn't yet acquired the company as their own...

I think it's time to clean up and delete the duplicate accounts, just to make sure there's no silly mistakes. :2 cents:

edit: 4. Forgot Youtube.

CaptainHowdy 02-11-2010 06:26 AM

I'm scared...

4pleasure_Davide 02-11-2010 06:34 AM

Me too.... does it include buzz lightning ?

Now that really pisses me off. I don't want or need a Buzz account.

I have different gmail accounts for different reasons. The idea was never to broadcast the activities of each account.

I realise they don't actually publish the emails however the accounts were PRIVATE. FUCKING GOOGLE!

rowan 02-11-2010 06:47 AM

Just a heads up, I deleted one account and suddenly two others no longer work.

georgeyw 02-11-2010 06:55 AM

On a side note, Google is going to get their ass kicked by one or many Govt's if they continue down this road. Guarantee it.

Serge Litehead 02-11-2010 10:00 AM

they don't sign you up automatically.. you choose to opt in to check it out by clicking on offered buzz link.

Wrong. If you have a Gmail account, it's activated by default. People have logged into Buzz after the opening welcome screen (that you can't bypass when logging into G-Mail by the way) and seen people in their follow lists, and they haven't done anything yet (except log into their e-mail like they did every other day).

It's opt-in by default and you need to opt-out manually.

And the link to Buzz is ALWAYS there in G-Mail now.

TheDoc 02-11-2010 12:10 PM

The reason it's in your Gmail Account is because of your Address Book / Contacts. That also changed, a bit ago and is the reason Buzz went into Gmail.

Build your gmail contacts in gmail and organize them... trust me.

i don't think Google will ever come such low to opt in people automatically. i got the buzz yesterday, been using gmail throughout the day then got my session expired which offered to log in back, at that point Google presented two links: join buzz to see what's it about or skip to using regular gmail. I opted to check out buzz and while in there Google presented options to what and with whom I want to share and follow. I don't feel I have been auto opted in the buzz and all my accounts have been shared with anyone without my consent.

on the other hand Facebook auto signed me in because someone out there imported their mail contacts and Facebook feels that they need to create an account for me and bug to update my profile on a constant basis

FruityFoot 02-11-2010 12:57 PM

google already know to much about me, they are pushing themselves to far as if they want to be the next Microsoft

madawgz 02-11-2010 01:05 PM

just turned this shit off

Cyber Fucker 02-11-2010 03:41 PM

halfpint 02-11-2010 04:24 PM

Read the comments in the OP article, there are people who declined buzz yet still had automatically populated profiles listed publically. Some had their ex's listed as friends/followers even though they hadn't communicated for months or years.

Google's trying to make a highschool sexchart? Shit they really ARE into everything.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 02-11-2010 07:24 PM

So some people had followers without asking for them? When I got Buzz, it was turned "on" but no one was following me and I wasn't following anybody, nor was there any sort of profile info about me that anyone else could see.

I turned it "off" anyway just because I won't use it and don't want the extra button on the page.

BIGTYMER 02-11-2010 07:26 PM

You can count on me not using it. I want my gmail for email.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 02-11-2010 07:43 PM

Spoke too soon. One of my other accounts has a list of people I didn't OK.

CYF 02-11-2010 10:30 PM

Gmail popped up a big box asking if I wanted to join buzz, and I declined. Now I've got a Buzz menu item and it says I'm following two people already.

What a bunch of bullshit.

beta-tester 02-11-2010 11:14 PM

As much as I like Google, this Buzz thing really insulted me! I mean, WTF anymore?? Aren't we fed up with such shit already? Look around you, everybody and their mother is addicted to those "social network" sites... This is not funny anymore! They try to Globalize the Web! Fuck that!

I turned off this shit immediately! Fuck them all!

moeloubani 02-12-2010 01:12 AM

i love google and i want them to know even the most intimate secrets i have because me and google share a tight bond

wonder how did Google find all those people? guess what, those ex's were in their gmail contacts list.

i opted to follow most active contacts.. i don't get to see anything bout them before they share something.

quiet 02-12-2010 07:26 AM

i turned it off as well.
