What do you guys think about The 2012 phenomenon? Every few years there is some sort of end of the world phenomenon. :1orglaugh OMG it looks like we may only have about 3 years left.

The 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of beliefs that cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on December 21 or December 23, 2012

Earth and its inhabitants may undergo a positive physical or spiritual transformation, and that 2012 may mark the beginning of a new era.

Others suggest that the 2012 date marks the end of the world or a similar catastrophe.

They go insane because others go too.. Bwahahaha... I know a few that because of 2012 literally stoped to worry about anything ...like job (they quitted ther), loans to be paid... they sit there in their family houses, watch tv and wait.... (no bullshit) this is very comfortable for them. Personally, I can't wait to see these guys after 2012 with their whole hands deep in the dirty potty.

Seeing people in a shit makes me working harder and harder each day and being even more satisfied when harvesting crops of my hard work.

2012 is a bit scary... It is not something that "came" a few years ago. Still, I have not made an ark yet. But might buy a boat next summer ;)

Mostly hype, but if you actually look through some of it, there are some valid points of interest. For example, the earth, sun and moon all being aligned is a bit weird

end of mayan calendar = end times

...or just the end of the mayan calendar.

Don't worry, there'll be another end of the world date after 2012.

Kind of like, some days I might check the mailbox. Other days I just forget. That's about how much thought I put into 2012.

remember, that the mayan calander deals with the cycles of the earth, and earth has gone through several of these 27 000 year cycles before, it's only that recorded history obviously wasn't taking notes then....

Actually, the statement that the Mayan calendar ends in 2012 is bullshit, and even if it did -- so what?

It's been three years away from the end of times ever since the beginning of recorded human history.

Could be the catastrophe that happened in the movie 2012.

The statment that the Mayan calendar ends in 2012 is completely true. But they never said it would be the end of the world..

The scientists here believe that the calendar did not go further in date because the people that were making it may have moved at the time and just never got back to finishing it.

Its still the most accurate one on the planet.

And 2032 is when the *nix date resets. Similar to Y2K except it is more hardware based. :error

I think nothign will happen, just like with every other prophecy. Since the dawn of man, the end of the world has been just around the corner. May 5th 2000 when all the planets aligned was supposed to end the world too.

Logic dictates that the mayan calendar has to end EVENTUALLY, it can't go on forever. Were they supposed to set it up for an extra 1000 years just for our benefit so we don't have to worry? They were already nice enough to plot it ahead as many years as they did.

What are the odds the world would end on the winter solstice? I would be more worried if they picked some completely random date that had nothing to do with anything to end it on.

Give me superwoman as well ;)

according to Mayan experts, there are no such predictions and the calendar just ends that day because they probably got too busy with their internal wars to keep on calculating the dates
