Les Grossman posts he can meet me so I hit him up and we make plans to get together in Mongkok earlier today. I just got done having dinner with him.

OMG! Not even 3 minutes into the dinner and I'm thinking "what have I got myself into?" :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh He introduces himself, looks me in the eye and shakes my hand, like a gentleman. We order drinks before dinner and the waitress (admittedly limited english) had barely walked away before Les is calling her a "gook bitch." And it all unravelled from there!:disgust

No need to go into all the details but suffice it to say the next 45 minutes was riddled with racial slurs and hate spewage. Gotta hand it to the guy, though: he sure knows his right-wing politics.:helpme

I decided to go through with the lunch listening to all this shit which I don't agree with obviously, if not for anything other than the experience and so I can say I did. It was an experience all right. And definitely one I won't forget.

In the end, I think he could tell I wasn't on the same page as him. I don't hate him. I just feel sorry for him. I'm posting this just because I don't think he gives a rat's ass frankly, and tell the gfy people he is exactly who he portrays himself to be.

It was nice meeting you Les Grossman. I mean, sort of.

There are lots of expats like that in Asia...they band together to bitch and moan, and heap scorn upon their hosts, never doing anything besides contributing to the bad reputation of many foreigners living abroad.

Fortunately, there are lots of good expats too, whom appreciate, or at least truly make an effort to understand the local culture (outside the hooker/bar district), and even contribute some positive changes...
