Tequila aficionados

Any here?

I'm a fanatic. Tonight is Corzo Anejo.

Corzo Tequila combines art and science to create the purest, most refined spirit possible - a tequila of extraordinary character with the full aroma and flavor of blue Agave.

More than twice the Agave of other super-premium tequilas, Corzo is harvested at the perfect moment to create a smooth, full-bodied taste that sets it apart.

Aged for more than one year in small white oak barrels for an authentic, smooth flavor.

And it fucking rocks. Every drop is pure pleasure.

Spunky 02-12-2010 07:52 PM

I like Cabo Wabo every chance I can get, that's about the extent of it

Amputate Your Head 02-12-2010 07:53 PM

To my utter surprise & shock, I discovered in Vegas (when I was getting married) that the Corzo Blanco (only Corzo, not all blancos) is even more delicious. But I have weak knees for anejos.

No shit it is. You are an alcoholic.

baddog 02-12-2010 07:54 PM

My standard is Hornitos. Anejos is damn good though.

Hornitos Anejo is stellar and I'm not sure if my local store just has the price gun set wrong or what, but it's astonishingly cheap for the quality. :thumbsup

My point is that in reality you don't care how a drink tastes, it's just an excuse for you to get shitfaced. Any alcohol would do the trick just the same.

Cabo is okay. Nothing spectacular though. Just watch out if you have it at the Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo. They love to put Damiana in it and that shit fucked me up big time.

That's a pretty weak point, considering it's completely baseless and untrue. Try again genius.

dyna mo 02-12-2010 08:03 PM

when i drink liqour i drink tequila, i like the anejos and will look for the corzo.

i keep the Herradura or Tres Generaciones anejo around the house, it's super to sip on the rocks.

dyna mo 02-12-2010 08:07 PM

Nice. I tried some AsomBroso Vintage Tequila Extra Anejo a couple weeks ago.... $125 a shot. Was the smoothest shit I ever had in my life man. If you could drink liquid orgasm.... this is it.

My all time (new) fav though is Don Pilar. Can't get that shit anywhere. I was able to get one bottle from the company rep, but haven't been able to find it anywhere since. Most buttery anejo I've tasted. http://www.donpilar.com/

My fav tequila liqueur is Orendain Almondrado. But can't get that shit anywhere but inside Mexico.

those sound like the crazy smooth sipping tequilas eh, i am not that familiar with them, i've tried 1 or 2 but always shit bricks about the price. i can't remember if they actually taste like tequila though? that's one thing about patron silver i do not like, easy to shoot and get people to shoot with ya, but it doesn't take like tequila in the slightest.

i like staying in the $50-$80 a fifth range, lolz. that shit starts going down fast after the 1st 2 or 3, hahahahah, good times.

Yeah, me too.... Patron is good, but I won't pay for it. I bought a $60 bottle of Chinaco Anejo a few months ago. Was very highly rated on Tequila.net but I didn't think it was really worth the price.

A fantastic Reposado (my fav repo) is Correlejo Reposado. Nice and spicy! :thumbsup (runs about $40 a bottle i think)

Amputate Your Head 02-12-2010 08:26 PM

Well, thanks for the chat guys. It's Friday night, so I'm throwing some logs in the fireplace and retiring to the sofa for a movie with some iced anejo. Have a great weekend everyone! :thumbsup

baddog 02-12-2010 08:27 PM

I think Patron is one of the most overrated tequilas around [at least that I have tried].

Thanks for the reminder that it is Friday. I honestly could not have told you what day of the week it was without looking at a calendar.

Hotrocket 02-12-2010 08:44 PM

Herradura Anejo is my fave..followed by Dos Lunas Anejo

Vendzilla 02-12-2010 09:20 PM

I'm a Sailor Jerry fan, 92 proof spiced rum, the label peels off to show a cartoon of an old tattoo that Jerry designed

And that has nothing to do with quality tequila whatsoever. Or even good taste for that matter.

bns666 02-13-2010 05:31 AM

Another tequila fan here too :thumbsup

Jose Cuervo gold waiting for the evening :)

That's like drinking gasoline.

Dos Lunas www.doslunas.com 100% organic, aged in american white oak and jack daniels barrels.

The reposado is my personal fave.

My favorite. Only $18 for a full liter at the duty free store in Nogales.

Cuervo Gold is a mixtos and about as good as drinking paint thinner.
You want to look for the "100% Agave" on the bottle before plunking down any money on a tequila. A great starter tequila is 1800 Silver. Not too expensive, but still very good. (Sauza) Hornitos (blanco or anejo, never tried their repo) is good too. Cazadores Repo (another cheapee) is borderline, but will do in a pinch, but Caz Anejo is crap.. (has a weird taste, but ok for cooking).

Davidstinator 02-13-2010 11:43 AM

I'm a fan of 7 Leguas Blanco and chamucos Reposado...

The 7 Leguas is made in the old style - with the mash being ground with a stone milling wheel turned by a mule who walks around in a circle powering the wheel. Since 1952 - so it's one of the older more "traditional" tequilas.
www.tequilasieteleguas.com.mx

The Chamucos is just freaking fantastic. http://www.tequilachamucos.com/

Both run about $50-$60.

Patron Silver is one of my favorites. It might be over rated but its still damn good.

Man please don't do that to yourself. Cuervo is mostly chemicals, like someone else here said its like drinking paint thinner. I can't even drink it in Margaritas any more, without getting an instant headache. Pick up a bottle of anything that says 100% agave on it and you will be very happy.

Paul&John 02-13-2010 01:15 PM

hard to find anything better in this third world banana republic where i am now.

Deej 02-13-2010 02:12 PM

I like to try all sorts of tequilas...

that sir is one the goodies.

Yea yea, patron is overrated... The grey goose of vodkas... But I still like a nice cool shot of patron over most off the shelf tequilas.

Do like to try authentic and exotics.

Its certainly my booze of choice when im in need. :pimp

Try a good tequila for once. :2 cents:

ewwww

Deej 02-13-2010 02:32 PM

Jose Quervo is only tequila by its marketing. Its like 40% rum or some shit.

It's a Vile Spirit!

bns666 02-13-2010 02:49 PM

Eh,

I can buy only those locally:

Sierra
Sauza
Jose Cuervo
Tres Ochos
Pepe Lopez
Olmeca

... in silver or gold variations.

Any of them good by your standards?

well it wasn't that bad, mixed with a lot of grapefruit + lemon/lime juice + mint syrup the taste of shitty tequila was lost.

Suaza is probably the best on that list out of the ones I have tried. A couple of their variations are very good. Like I said though try to find one that says 100% agave on it so at least you are getting real agave and not chemicals.

pornguy 02-15-2010 06:29 AM

Its amazong how many there are and some are really good even though cheap.

bns666 02-15-2010 08:33 AM

what about "two fingers" tequila?
weird that a mexican product has an english name.

dyna mo 02-15-2010 08:38 AM

one of the great things about premium tequilas is no hangover!

well, unless u down the whole fucking bottle eh, i wouldn't know anything about that though........

that right there is worth the price of admission.

poncabare 02-15-2010 08:50 AM

high end tequila companies, like dos lunas, take out the wax from the male pinas that some say is the cause of hang overs

ahh, is that what it is? i assumed it was due to lower sugar content but i am not sure where i came up with that! i think that in my experience, my worst hangover result from sugary drinks and/or mixing drinks i.e. beer/wine/tequila = OMF head hurts.

MrBottomTooth 02-15-2010 10:17 AM

I've always found it to be the most vile tasting drink there is, except for maybe gin. I honestly don't understand how someone can enjoy it.

If I had to envision how it was made, I would guess it was some sort of paint thinner mixed with rotten wool socks worn by a field-working mexican, that was left out in the sun for few days.

Holly 02-15-2010 11:05 AM
