They just pocketed a nice £56 million after winning a half-share of this weeks Euro lottery. Good luck to them :)

Chances are it's going to break their lives. Most lottery winners are unhappy and go broke or end up isolated. Sad but true. If you're not ready for somethiing like this, happiness doesn't last.

Why? What are the benefits of that? It's all tax-free anyway.

they chose to do that, it's not like getting their photos taken, etc is a requirement to claim the prize...

In some lotteries, it is a semi-requirement that you allow them to use your pic for promotional purposes.
Another benefit is that in some countries/places, you can not will lottery winnings to descendants. But if you have a trust or some corp setups, you can essentially will it to them by making them head of the corp after you die. Havent looked into it too much yet, as I dont plan on winning until later on this year.

What Woj said. They chose to go public with it. They didn't have to if they didn't want to. Personally, I think it's stupid. I'd choose the privacy.
