In other words, if I were to be a dumb shitty pants, they might just have gotten the domain name from me, and I think that's what they are or were trying to do.

This BS reminds me of Getty images trying to "fine" you for $5000 for having one of their images on your site.

An ex of mine was recently sent an email from them asking for that much because her web designer has used some images which they'd apparently paid for, royalty free. I told her to tell them to go fuck themselves. She never did hear back from them.

It's all right there... The only mark you can even try to claim is a mark specifically named the absolute name of the domain. You can not try and take something that has additional letters in the domain regardless of what they are. That means I can legally own iSexTube.com if I wanted and there isn't shit anyone can do about it.

Even phonetical differences aren't covered under a mark (sextoob.com, sekstube.com, whatever)...

they would never win on generic terms like this.. and if they lost just once, they would be out of the game.. so instead they just send out bulk emails trying to get people to turn over their domain names for free.. and some people are just stupid enough to do it..

but when you look at the names they tried to scam years ago that had at least 1 testicle you will see that they knew the law and that is was a scam so they still own their names..

they will never take a case to ICANN because they know they will lose.. and then they will not be able to run their scam...
