My computer is missing the PCI Simple Communications Controller driver...what's that?
Does anyone here know enough about computers to know what a "PCI Simple Communications Controller" is?
I upgraded my computer from Windows Vista to Windows 7 about 6 weeks ago. Last night I was looking through my Device Manager and notices that my "PCI Simple Communications Controller" driver was not installed. I'm not sure how big of a deal that is because I dont actually know what the hell it is! All I know is I've search all over the internet on how to download that driver and I've found NOTHING. I built my computer myself, so there is no name brand or anything like that. I just bought a bunch of awesome computer parts and turned them into a sweet computer...at least Im pretty sure its a sweet computer, lol! Can anyone help me out here please??? |
is that modem ?!?

Just checked my computer says it's missing that too. But that same machine has been working like charm for years now - even thought that that PCI shit hasn't ever been present - so who gives a fuck :thumbsup

Well, I guess Im not really noticing any major issues either...so I suppose there isnt much to worry about at the moment. I'm still really curious what the hell it is though, haha! |

Do you have a CD that came with your motherboard? Most likely it is a driver off of there that needs to be installed.

sounds like a pci modem though like someone else said, have a look in your pci slots inside your case, and if there's a modem there should be a fcc or babt number printed on it, google that and you'll find which modem it is and where to get the driver. |

Did you figure out what it was? I wouldn't worry too much... I've had an "SM Bus Controller" with no driver in my comp for years.

it's a modem and you don't need it anyway.

To be honest, it didnt seem to make much of a difference whether or not I had the driver...my computer worked fine, but it was just bugging the shit out of me trying to figure out what was wrong! Anyways, I followed your advice and everything is back as it should be...THANKS!! |
