My computer is missing the PCI Simple Communications Controller driver...what's that?

Does anyone here know enough about computers to know what a "PCI Simple Communications Controller" is?
I upgraded my computer from Windows Vista to Windows 7 about 6 weeks ago. Last night I was looking through my Device Manager and notices that my "PCI Simple Communications Controller" driver was not installed.
I'm not sure how big of a deal that is because I dont actually know what the hell it is!

All I know is I've search all over the internet on how to download that driver and I've found NOTHING.

I built my computer myself, so there is no name brand or anything like that. I just bought a bunch of awesome computer parts and turned them into a sweet computer...at least Im pretty sure its a sweet computer, lol!

Can anyone help me out here please???

Just checked my computer says it's missing that too. But that same machine has been working like charm for years now - even thought that that PCI shit hasn't ever been present - so who gives a fuck :thumbsup

Well, I guess Im not really noticing any major issues either...so I suppose there isnt much to worry about at the moment. I'm still really curious what the hell it is though, haha!

Do you have a CD that came with your motherboard? Most likely it is a driver off of there that needs to be installed.

No, im not very good at hanging on to stuff like that...I had a feeling that might be the case though. I suppose I can try and figure out who my manufacturer is and order the CD or something.

download a program called cpuz and that will identify your motherboard, and then go to the manufacturers site to download the drivers.

sounds like a pci modem though like someone else said, have a look in your pci slots inside your case, and if there's a modem there should be a fcc or babt number printed on it, google that and you'll find which modem it is and where to get the driver.

Did you figure out what it was? I wouldn't worry too much... I've had an "SM Bus Controller" with no driver in my comp for years.

it's a modem and you don't need it anyway.

This fixed the problem...thanks so much 'roly'.
To be honest, it didnt seem to make much of a difference whether or not I had the driver...my computer worked fine, but it was just bugging the shit out of me trying to figure out what was wrong!

Anyways, I followed your advice and everything is back as it should be...THANKS!!
