Experimenting with long trailers [vid]

I'm about to put up a bunch of trailers kinda like these. This is an attempt to increase returning visitors to the site, and ultimately increase sales.

Tell me what you think of this trailer.

Do you expect lots of people to comment on a trailer featuring black dude oiling his dick lol? :1orglaugh

As to me, I was nearly impressed. You're shooting from tripod which is very much refreshing (but get yourself a better one for smoother camera movements). Editing was good, but I think some music would help since this is a trailer - raw sound from a studio sounded a bit rude.

The first part of a clip looked better, since the second one featuring behind the scene stuff was poorly lit (which is understandable but when tossed into the same clip with a better lit promo vid it spoiled the overall impression).

That said, still very nice job.

Oh and I also liked the blurred background in several parts of the first half.

Thanks man. The camera we're using for the behind-the-scenes footage used to be my primary camera. It's one of those small consumer Canon 1920x1080 P&S video cameras that happen to be terrible with low-light performance, BUT... I wanted to give the impression to the surfers that I'm trying to put together some quality content, and doing the BTS allows me to put on more of a show. I think even the grainy BTS footage is still pretty cool for some people. When you've already seen the main video, I think it's kinda cool to get a perspective of the production.

Glad you like the quality of my new footage.

BTW, this is my tripod.

What camera are you using for your main video production?

That's a good one. But since the camera jerked at around 0.35 I thought you were using one of those cheap photo tripods, obviously I was wrong.

Yeah, the head actually has somehow loosened at the base, instead of being connected rigidly... when I pan side to side, you can see the play.

I've heard other people with this same tripod head complain about the same thing. It needs some special screwdriver to tighten it up. I'll have to fix it. I didn't think anyone except for myself would notice.

So you're using photo camera to shoot videos? I've heard people are doing that with the new gen photo cams, but never to this day actually met anyone who's doing it for real commercially.

That explains the quality and the origin of the blurred background which I liked...

How many minutes of video is it capable of recording in the best quality?

Um, I think it's limited to 12 minutes per video clip. That's an insanely long time, and it's never posed any issue for my purposes.

What software did you use to edit the clip?
