Hockey: Canada VS USA tonight.
 

Half of Canada will be watching this game tonight. No kidding 13 million Canadian TV's were tuned into the last game VS the Swiss. That's almost half the population of Canada LOL! Any of you Americans here on GFY going to watch tonights game? Should be a good one :)

i'm stoked as hell.

been waiting for this one for a few days - my gut feeling is that Canada wins this one pretty handily. if they don't, i don't know what's the problem - almost the entire Canadian team are players who play on the 1st line or top defense pairing of their NHL teams - US only has about half a dozen of those on their team, actually maybe not even 6.

no real excuse for Canada not to beat the US by 5-2 or something like that.

It's going pretty good for Canada actually. Huge improvments at home from the last two Canadian held Olympics.

Own the Podium is a failure, not a disaster. They won't come anywhere near the medal count that was targeted.

Canada's outplayed the US in this hockey game pretty badly - the score should be 3-1 Canada, Brodeur's been shakey. Looks like the US is waking up now and getting back into it.

no idea what their target is but a several of the national media guys down here in the states have been mocking them about it

I didn't think USA had a chance, but I am so happy to see they are winning and I really hope they do win, I love watching Canadians cry over hockey and make excuses, very amusing...

It blows my mind how Miller has not let more in, we are outshooting the USA big time. Just brodeur let in 1-2 sloppy goals... Plus the refs haven't called at least 2-3 penalties they should have on the us.

I agree, first period and going into the second looked like USA just didn't even care... but they have picked it up and after seeing Neidemeyer being such a baby bitch at the end of the 2nd, I hope USA kicks their ass... fucking pussy. Own the podium is just a goofy name for the government finally giving Canadian Olympic athletes some actual support. Something that's been in practice in the USA for some time.

nah - US has taken the play back since Canada scored its second goal - the shots are evening up now. i'm pulling for Canada but to be honest, we ain't great. We were god awful at the last Olympics and now at home on an NHL sized rink we can't beat the Swiss in regulation time and the Americans are beating us. We produce great NHL players but national teams - nope. The US junior team was absolutely better than the best Canadian juniors at the WJC.

Looks like the Americans are going to win this. Martin Brodeur hasn't looked all that solid. I felt they should have stuck with Roberto Luongo. I'm pretty sure he'll get the start in the next game. Hats off to Miller, he's standing on his head.

I did no mocking I said national news guys here in the states have and everytime canada is mentioned on the US olympic tv broadcast the phrase own the podium is brought up.

i dont think own the podium is a disaster or a failure, canadian athletes are ranking in the top 5 in a lot of events, just not winning medals, canada has never financially supported athletes like other countries have so this is all new, hopefully they keep doing it.

ha - i said it was my gut feeling Canada was going to win by a few goals tonight. i'm the least cocky Canadian hockey fan around.

BUT the truth is the players on Canada are better players and paid that way in the world's number one professional hockey league, the NHL. They *should* beat the US. If I was starting a new hockey team and got to pick from all the players on the ice tonight, 15 would come from Canada, 5 from the US team. And any hockey follower would do the same.

Brodeur definitely let Canada down while Miller played his best for the US.

Ugh this game was hard to watch, the americans looked extremely strong while Canada was scrambling the whole time...

They should have pulled Brodeur after the first 2 minutes. At least now they hopefully have learned their lesson.

this loss wasn't the end - IF Canada really is the best they will get their shit together and beat whatever teams are in front of them the rest of the way. If they don't, it's simple, they aren't the best. no excuses.

Looks like this tournament will be interesting after all, but Ill bet you 500k CJed tube surfers that Canada will win the tourney. The more there is at stake the better they play.
