My credit card expires in 4 days. Is it safe to join a porn site?

There are a couple of sites I would like to take a look at, and they may have potentially shady billing.

What are the risks for me at this point?

ArsewithClass 02-24-2010 07:58 PM

I would have said the perfect time to check out the systems. At least the cards run out in 4 days. Maybe leave it another cpl???

Theo 02-24-2010 07:58 PM

most likely it will get declined

Riffhard 02-24-2010 08:01 PM

Just get a prepaid card from 7/11 if you're worried about shady billing.

MarcFromTheDarc 02-24-2010 08:09 PM

I would think it would work... they do pre-auth.

faxxaff 02-24-2010 08:15 PM

You might still get rebilled if you get a new card with the same number ....

Exactly!

If the card comes back as expired they'll just add 2 years to the expiry date on file and continue banging.

Don't do it, nobody pays for porn:thumbsup

I didn't think pre-paids worked with most online processors?

I don't know...

Supz 02-24-2010 10:12 PM

yea that is safe. they bang you out for all 3 sales right away. they dont need 4 days

96ukssob 02-24-2010 10:13 PM

some credit card companies will allow recurring transactions to come, even if the credit card has expired. Amex is one of them for instance.

i wouldnt be surprised if some of these shady companies would try to add 2 or 4 years to your existing date to see if it goes through. I worked at this ad agency a few years ago who their shady accountant would do that to customers they had on a recurring charge

I seem to remember someone in the know (probably KimmyKim) saying that initial and rebill transactions were different, and the CVV2 and possibly expiry date were not needed to successfully rebill.

Shady? Hmmm. That's how ccbill charged my card, I didn't bother cancelling a membership since the card was going to expire, but they managed to rebill me. :)

I have had to change my details of a card with expiry dates as the card wasn't accepted. True to say, this was a legit company for the payment of a cpl of domains. If a card is used in correctly. Fraud is very much a high card service these days, I would have thought your cc company would deduct the costs & refund them before collecting the money back from the company.
Ring your cc company asap & ask them if your card can still be used after the valid date. Then you could continue your transactions.

Hey, after all this. The sites & billing suppliers you think are shady may not be after all. :2 cents:

that's a statement from one of 3 cards used to test one very shady company (you'll find it blacklisted on our site). the was no money on it, but every attempt to bill it was tracked

You can enjoy free porn for free. If you can find it.

Yeah sure, but I would like to see inside a few of the sites I promote.

The last time I saw the backend of a site I couldn't believe how shitty the CMS was.
