Are we headed for $1 = ?1?

Spain is in some serious trouble and there are some that say Spain and other EU countries are going to drag down the Euro. Some even speculate the end of the Euro may not be too far off. Using one currency takes away Spain's ability to devalue its currency and thus make traveling to spain attractive (and a bargain) as well as being able to increase exports as they would be cheaper.

http://finance.yahoo.com/banking-bud...leground-spain

Then you will find all the currency traders drooling at the prospect of $1 = ?1.

nolongerexists 02-26-2010 12:06 PM

where all those saying that dollar is doomed? eurozone is a shithole, lets wait for italy after spain

romeo22 02-26-2010 12:14 PM

Not sure about that, $ is still way to far to be equal with euro.Mainly Spain have problems in their economy but its not just spain.also few big countries as Protugal,Greece including Italy are here with same problems as Spain.Thats the main problem why euro is going down at this moment.Generally all webmaster of europe would think by growing the $ agains euro is good but its not.

mayabong 02-26-2010 12:17 PM

They are both fiat currencies backed by absolutely nothing.. (pretty sure about the euro anways)

baddog 02-26-2010 12:54 PM

I agree! Also Greece is close to colapse

k0nr4d 02-26-2010 03:54 PM

i would hate it for euro to go down. last time it dipped really low, it was like 3:1 against polish currency instead of 4 or 5:1 like normal, and everyone started importing shitty 10-15 yr old cars from germany for pocket change and trying to sell them.

Not any more. Change in 2000. They are down to 20% of the worth in gold and can legally sell it all if they want to.

seeandsee 02-26-2010 06:39 PM

fall more please!

SpongeBub 02-26-2010 06:46 PM

God, I hope not. I sell merchandise on a mainstream site and 75% of my business these days is outside the US. This is because the dollar has been so weak for so long, my stuff looks cheap to overseas buyers. If the dollar strengthens, there goes that business.

SinisterStudios 02-26-2010 08:04 PM

Id love to see the Euro go down more, been looking to purchase a place in Spain and have been holding off till the euro dropped.

Dappz 02-26-2010 10:39 PM

blonda80 02-26-2010 11:59 PM

Konkan 02-27-2010 12:26 AM

Come on, being backed by Siemens, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Deutsche Bank, Telefonica, Zara, Nestle, Danone, Heinicken, Becks, Lufthansa, Nokia, and a million other brand name enterprises is not thaaaat bad :) At least I would not mind being backed by those enterprises :)

It's not the currencies fault that people currently lose money - it's the fault of those greedy, selfish pricks on Wall Street and the U.S. morgage lenders, who caused that people are currently in the shit.

Just my 2 cents

And to answer your question: I doubt it.

voa 02-27-2010 01:22 AM

In some point we will come to one currency for whole world maybe, we are part of the globalization and this is the result of that.

Raf1 02-27-2010 02:34 AM

that would be perfect :thumbsup

then again, I would let it go much further :)

grumpy 02-27-2010 06:11 AM

wasnt that the original plan???

TheSenator 02-27-2010 06:57 AM

If I were a betting man, I would short the euro.

Really hope so, those $1=1€ were good days for us euro webmasters.

On the other hand, the strong Euro helped to buy sites and traffic past years, was good to reinvest on properties owned by USA webmasters.

Paul Markham 02-28-2010 03:32 AM

10 years ago the USD = 35 CZK

Today it's 18/19 to the USD :(

Miguel 02-28-2010 03:47 AM

$1=1?..
This sounds fair...

Nicky 02-28-2010 05:42 AM

Too bad Sweden doesn't have Euro and our currency is just gaining on the $ :(

webboy21 02-28-2010 05:58 AM

hmm...earnings wise...I'd like it!
