Customer Revenge (with the help of YouTube)
This is one of the cleverest "get even" actions I've ever seen. Good for Dave. Screw United and its corporate "we can't help" attitude.
Perhaps United will think twice now before it disregards a valid customer complaint. We are living in the Internet age when it is quite easy to put the screws when deserved. A musician named Dave Carroll recently had difficulty with United Airlines. United apparently damaged his treasured Taylor guitar ($3500) during a flight. Dave spent over 9 months trying to get United to pay for damages caused by baggage handlers to his custom Taylor guitar. During his final exchange with the United Customer Relations Manager, he stated that he was left with no choice other than to create a music video for youtube exposing their lack of cooperation. The Manager responded: "Good luck with that one, pal". So he posted a retaliatory video on youtube. The video has since received over 5.5 million hits. United Airlines contacted the musician and attempted settlement in exchange for pulling the video. Naturally his response was: "Good luck with that one, pal". Taylor Guitars sent the musician 2 new custom guitars in appreciation for the product recognition from the video that has lead to a sharp increase in orders. Here's the video... |
If the guy used a travel case for his guitar it probably would not of gotten all busted up.....

Because of what you saw in the video? I saw a cardboard plane in the video. Does this mean that United flies cardboard planes? |

united might suck, but he is retard for thinking he didn't need a special travel case for his guitar. it would be like me traveling with my video camera in a soft case instead of a pelican case and blaming the airlines when it broke. but then again, i think ahead and plan for things... |
Bump for a feel-good story of the day.

nice song, nice video.
well done ! |
Seems like I saw this a few years ago...

i'm having a pretty hard fucking time believing a dedicated musician was traveling with his loved guitar NOT in a decent case. Sorry, but whoever thinks the guy was just tossing his loose guitar around for cargo is a fucking idiot.

or is this just an assumption, because if it were in a travel case, would that make it automatically impervious to any harm? Like for example if the handlers improperly placed his guitar on last and the hydraulic cargo door crushed his airline rated travel case to bits. I mean if were going to assume stuff lets make it interesting. :thumbsup |

for me the second is the best

I've traveled with my $2k Warwick bass guitar a few times both by car on trips and on the plane... it showed up fine even when it went underneath but I stuck it in a hard case that was designated safe for air travel and was insured from the company I bought it from if damage did occur.
Think about it... how many of us have gotten lost or damaged from flying... Probably ZERO. The number of items / bags / whatever "Lost" or damaged has to be out of control. It's not "flying" that damages it, it's the people on the ground loading and unloading. |
