How to use rss feeds?

Yes stupid question, but how do you use Rss feeds, is it just in blogs?

Tanker 03-01-2010 08:34 AM

download for your wordpress the following plugins

feedwordpress or wp-o-matic they will pull feeds into your blog posts!

bns666 03-01-2010 08:48 AM

its not only for blogs, you can pull them from any kind of site.

LustyVixens 03-01-2010 10:04 AM

Get some background information - it's pretty easy to integrate or consume, especially with systems like WordPress.

CamsMaster 03-01-2010 03:29 PM

hmm you could try to parse them an build a Db with those data... or you could just show them up

pornguy 03-01-2010 06:52 PM

Using them in WP is the fastest way.

bns666 03-01-2010 07:20 PM

wp is the fastest, but search for magpie rss, you can include it where ever you want.

FeedWordPress rules for me :thumbsup

I use rss feeds for to fill my blogs regularly and it works just fine. By the way, the program in my sig has really good rss feeds if you are interested in promoting gays.

Tanker 03-02-2010 08:31 AM

cheapest adult software sells a script that will build sites from RSS feeds

TheDoc 03-02-2010 10:46 AM

You can use rss feeds for more than feeding your blog updates.

They can be used as a tool that allows you to easily monitor 100's of websites, giving you a notice when they update, without having to visit them all.

I use the software: http://www.newsgator.com/individuals/feeddemon/

I subscribe to rss feeds, normally found on blog sites, news sites, social profiles and a growing amount of sites. More than you could ever monitor.

So I take a feed url like: http://feeds.feedburner.com/AdultWebmasterSkills

I put the feed url into feeddemon, and when AWS updates, the update appears in feeddemon. I don't to organize a bookmark or remember another website url. Never visit a site that hasn't updated again.

Welp... that's how I use feeds, I help expand the mind by motoring websites this way, far more than I do feeding websites with others feeds.

i use rss feeds provided by sponsors to make TGP sites using RSTGP.
i also use these feeds in wordpress blogs using wp-o-matic plugin

ajz 03-09-2010 07:54 PM

not just for blogs. I just added an RSS feed of new web designer projects that are posted on adultjobzone.com. Works great and should help in google.

another good thing to do to help with rss feeds is look for morphong feeds, alot of times sites have rss feeds that are the same so you wind up having 1000 sites with the same exact content and non of the sites get indexed by google for SEO purposes.

so one of the best ones is naughty america and have great morphing feeds.

if anyone else knows and other great morphing feeds let me know i'm looking for more.

well that's its a myth. ie, newspapers like nytimes donīt use morphing rss and google index all their pages, etc.

AntiChrist 03-16-2010 08:46 AM

OK, i added a feed with feedwordpress. Nothing to see in wordpress. How can i see the feed?

Viper.X08 03-16-2010 09:52 AM

Rss is very helpful on visitors, Rss will update your visitors on whats the latest on your site. Distribute your Rss well. Goodluck

fatfoo 03-22-2010 12:22 PM

Well, Rss feeds can be inserted anywhere with the proper software. Not just in blogs, in any kind of site.

CyberSyn Only!

Nope, both plugins are VERY BAD choice.

1) feedwordpress - strips the affiliate codes out of the URL's (not from every URL but sometimes). This already was discussed on GFY many times.

2) wp-o-matic - it works with the WP database directly bypassing the official WP API. So some day many webmasters notice that they WP db has been screwed and the blog is lost. This was also discussed on GFY.

I suggest you to use CyberSyn - the another freeware feed pulling plugin which was written by a webmaster for webmasters.

Features:
  • CyberSyn doesn't use big and slow 3rd-party GPL libraries like SimplePie or MagpieRSS. It parses the RSS feeds for those XML tags only that can be imported into WordPress posts and ignores everything else. So it has rather compact and extremely fast code!
  • Advanced RSS parsing algorithm has an ability to pull the feeds fully automatically. Furthermore, you can assign the updating period to each particular feed. Also you can set up a maximum number of posts that will be syndicated from the feed at once. This is a very useful feature for SE optimization of your blogs, because search engines don't like blogs that add 100 or more posts at once.
  • Adjustable post uniqueness identification by GUID, post name or both.
  • CyberSyn has no problem with syndicating various embedded media content such as tube videos etc.
