Stand Up While You Read This!
Your chair is your enemy.
It doesn?t matter if you go running every morning, or you?re a regular at the gym. If you spend most of the rest of the day sitting ? in your car, your office chair, on your sofa at home ? you are putting yourself at increased risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, a variety of cancers and an early death. In other words, irrespective of whether you exercise vigorously, sitting for long periods is bad for you. That, at least, is the conclusion of several recent studies. Indeed, if you consider only healthy people who exercise regularly, those who sit the most during the rest of the day have larger waists and worse profiles of blood pressure and blood sugar than those who sit less. Among people who sit in front of the television for more than three hours each day, those who exercise are as fat as those who don?t: sitting a lot appears to offset some of the benefits of jogging a lot. So what?s wrong with sitting? More here: http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com...WT.mc_ev=click . |
So should we attach our computers to treadmills? :( :(

Maybe there's a factor that's being overlooked? Caloric intake? I agree that long periods sitting down will definitely decrease your metabolic rate.

That's because people don't have one of these!

standing is bad for your too. long periods of standing can lead to back and spine problems, as well problems with your ankles and knees.
the only solution... is to lay down all day :1orglaugh I agree tho. since ive been working more ive definitely gained a LOT of weight, then when I was putting in 2 or 3 hours, then running around doing stuff all day... now im pushing from 10am or so until 6,6:30pm... get dinner, sit down again, get home and either back working or sitting watching TV |
Got to make changes thats for sure.

So we can't sit, we can't stand, we can't eat most things, we can't do this, can't do that.
Remember the days when people didn't always tell you what to do and what not to do ?? I miss those days... |
