My 650hp Mini Cooper Time Attack car (Pics)

Thanks to ABF Motoring for preparing this 650whp 2000lb R53 Mini for me for the 2010 Redline Time Attack season. We will be running in Super Modified class which is basically no rules all out as fast as you can make the car go(there is safety rules though). Wish me luck as we go where no mini has gone before. For more info check out www.ABFmotoring.com

You're kidding me? Fantastic job. How much is it to do that out of interest? (the wrap that is). Would be good to know for branding purposes.

Danny B 03-03-2010 10:23 PM

DAMN that's one fast rocket! good luck!

A good wrap is anywhere from 1500-4000 installed not including if you need help with the artwork.

BIGTYMER 03-03-2010 10:33 PM

Nice engine!

whore monger 03-03-2010 10:47 PM

Itll probably do 175+ on a good straight and we were running 45psi for drag racing but it will be much lower for road racing. No meth/water injection just 116 race fuel though we do have a NOS 50 shot in it for drag racing which will be taken out for time attack. Keep in mind this car makes 650whp off the bottle on a 1.6L ^^ Our main focus is getting the handling down for road racing right now, we have Sachs 4-way shocks so it shouldnt be a problem. Thanks for all of your kind words on the Mini!!

jimmy-3-way 03-03-2010 11:14 PM

Got dyno slips? I'd love to see how this thing makes that kind of insane HP because it doesn't even seem thermodynamically possible.

Here is the Mini in drag form running a 10.40

papill0n 03-04-2010 01:01 AM

650 bhp from a mini!?!?!?!? Wow!

papill0n 03-04-2010 01:02 AM

10 second quarters - sweet as man

Jon Oso 03-04-2010 01:15 AM

That's pretty impressive power - looks like it comes on hard on the big end for a pretty wicked charge down the rest of the track.

I too would love to see a dyno graph on that thing. It makes more than my car with 4x the displacement AND a small shot. Makes me want to rethink the huge cam and just go with a streetable camshaft and a big spinner.

I was going to say at first the cage looks almost road-race but if it gets through tech at the drag strip that's sick too. 135 is nothing to scoff at, that's closing in on 9 second MPH.

Sure you guys have already considered it but nitrous acts as a great intercooler sprayer like the ones on the EVO's. I think that NX or NOS makes a kit to transform it into a sprayer so you can help bring down temps while going around a track instead of down one.

That is the only MINI I would own. Very nice work.

raven1083 03-04-2010 01:23 AM

cool! Nice stuff!

Its a competition car so we cant show dyno sheets due to well the competition lol I can probably post a hp and trq readout but they wont let me show the graph. The car could go 9's but its drag racing days are over and now its a full road race car. Thanks again for all the great comments!

bmws early 80s f1 car made 1287hp for qualifying from 1.5 liters and 870 race hp...the amazing thing is it was an oem block they built the 1.8 liter production engine from:thumbsup

Sick car, that's a tight fit up in there with your IC pipes through your headlight deletions, hahahahahha

What's the curb weight on that thing?

1960 dry and we have to do new IC piping because the car is going to run the 25hours of Thunderhill in December so we need headlights!
