Looking to hire a PHP/MySQL programer

This custom script will be for a mainstream ecommerce store. I need a better way to keep track of sales. I currently use an excel file and I will soon be hiring people to process orders so that system wont work.

I need the ability to add products so that when I sell something, I can choose what was sold from a drop down box. I also need to add user logins that have different permissions. I want my employees to login and add a product sold but unable to delete anything or see the sales stats.

I will need two different logins when I visit the main URL. One for eBay sales and another for my ecommerce store but I would like to see the total sales stats calculated in both somewhere. That way I don't have to login to both just to get the total stats.

I will need to be able to sort the data by date/month/year and have a search feature.

Color coding is also required. (Black for complete, blue for waiting to be shipped, red for problem, orange for inventory sold)

Contact me on ICQ, MSN or AIM and give me a price quote with time frame.

Man, beware of flakes. I don't recommend programmers anymore.

Well, I am not about to take a course in college to learn it so I gotta hire people to do it for me.

It's pretty simple in my opinion.

Beward of scammers and flakes. It's getting BAD. Only pay for a finished product. No 50% upfront and get like 8 references.

Pipecrew 03-08-2010 03:22 PM

I know basic php and i think i could write that. Just go buy a book and save some headaches ;)

That's the same reason I ALWAYS ask for 50% upfront but from the other side... just get a contract and references...

EDIT: OR go to a mainstream development company... yeah they charge more but you get what you pay for. Put an RFP together and shop it around...

I found a guy that could do it but he wanted 30% up front.

I had to decline his offer. :(

While i agree on your point that there are MANY scammers and idiots around ... i've been working as a freelance programmer for almost 10 years and i wouldn't press a single key without 40-50% upfront payment. Too many times i've done projects with only a few percent upfront or without upfront payments and after the project was finished the people were broke, didn't want to pay, aren't reachable by email, telephone, mail, etc. ... and good luck collecting the money cross-country or even cross-continent ... even if the script wasn't sent to the client yet - it's the days, weeks or months of works hat you receive nothing for ...

Anyway good luck on finding someone to you, UniqueMovies :)

Agreed.

No chance in hell of me fronting even 30% upfront to a new guy. I will go to a lancer site before then. Luckily, I have found a few good programmers in borked and konrad, and other minor stuff I send to JamesK.

They do the work, complete the project, send me an invoice, I pay. Tada. Repeat business.

:thumbsup

Just to clarify, I was that 30% guy. I come with plenty of professional references that I offered to introduce him to. I am not 'well known' by too many on these forums yet, but I work behind the scenes and keep my mouth shut most of the time.

I offered to do the full project and demo the script at the end, then take payment before releasing source code.

It's all business, though, if he decides to go somewhere else.

I wish you luck on your search. I hope you don't get stuck with a third world programmer who'll do your job cheaper than I, but will be nowhere to be found in a few months' time when you need help on the script. It's happened to others I know :)

Well that is a fair offer champ.

If you are doing the whole project, and then showing him a finished or completed script before expecting payment in full. However, that was not presented in this O.P. story.

:2 cents:

I usually ask for at least 25% upfront if I never worked with you before. 50% upfront if the total is less than $2000. Past clients get a lot of leeway.

I doubt you'll be able to find someone who will deliver anything sizeable without at least some kind of deposit.

Why not just buy a shopping cart software for a fraction of the cost?

What you want done isn't anything that hasn't been done before...

edit - check out sunshop, I believe it has the options you need and I've personally used their shopping cart... pretty good
