SEO: Yay! Google makes Ajax apps crawlable

Opens some windows (no pun intended) of opportunity :)

Overview of Solution

Briefly, the solution works as follows: the crawler finds a pretty AJAX URL (that is, a URL containing a #! hash fragment). It then requests the content for this URL from your server in a slightly modified form. Your web server returns the content in the form of an HTML snapshot, which is then processed by the crawler. The search results will show the original URL.

Sweet! Thanks to the Google Web Toolkit team for pushing this so hard!

hmm, would like to see how this gets listed in the results and if you click a link and get the same results on the site. Some very sweet cloaking (but not) opportunities here maybe.

Oh fuck. I've got a custom geoip dating ad with some extra ajaxy goodness on it that I definitely, definitely don't want getting indexed.

Thank you for that sir... I've already started implementing the changes ;)

$5 *cough* says this little event will go mostly unnoticed around these parts... yet the implications are of extraordinary magnitude.

Read the doc, you need to make changes to your URL structure in order for G to be able to crawl it.

Why go through all this BS when you can just stick several static URLs in a sitemap?

Thanks $5, emailed this to my egghead coder, he'll know what to do.
