who is GFY's biggest loser?

i know a lot of us have mentioned here that we are losing weight/have lost weight.

i've lost 25 pounds in the last few months, going from 17% body fat to 9.5%.

who else here has lost weight and how much?

:)

Bman 03-10-2010 03:43 PM

Nice! How did you do it?

Nydahl 03-10-2010 03:45 PM

I am surely the biggest looser here - but still fat as always been

lazycash 03-10-2010 03:51 PM

I think Tony404 has lost a lot of weight in the last year.

thx!

i took a bit of an unorthodox approach.

i limited my calories to 1000/day, but no exercise. ate 1-2 safeway tv dinners a day which are ~300 calories each and then had 1-2 protein shakes. i decided to do this after researching the weight watchers diet and similar, noticing they are basically tv dinners.

i've since moved into phase 2- starting off with 10 minutes of exercise daily, bumping up the # of times i would do this daily to 4, i did this for 3 weeks to get my metabolism kick started and am now at slighty higher than required daily calories and doing p90x, which i am now in week 2.

ColetteX 03-10-2010 03:59 PM

I'm doing gym 4 - 5 days a week now, started at February 4th

As what works for me, It's always the best to overkill it at the start, so I tried to start an intense routine

- three days are cardio, means I burn exactly or more than 500 calories on each session

this is about 25 minutes on machines at a higher difficulty level and then running 2 miles at a decent pace

- two days are weights, less weight and more repetitions

- eating every three hours, lots of protein and not too much carbohydrates

Lost more than an inch in the waist during the last 35 days, as I just checked, so I'm on target so far, don't care about weight much, but I would expect I could have lost like 4 - 5 pounds so far as well, and it even seems like most of it was fat.

LOL. So you killed your body/nutrition until you dropped a significant amount of weight and now you are working on building back up? That's kind of funny.

25 minutes is just the first session on machines

I usually burn about 250 - 300

Then the rest I do running on a treadmill, I burn about 250 - 270 cals in 15 minutes if I'm running

I'm able to do close to 2 miles in 15 - 16 minutes, was surprised too :)

no, 9.5% bf isn't unhealthy. i'll be at 8% or less in a month or so.

NetHorse 03-10-2010 04:16 PM

Grats on the weight loss.

I'm on a cut right now, but I haven't lost that much weight. I'm at around 221lbs maybe 12%. Hoping to be around 210lbs @ 10% by May.

Farang 03-10-2010 04:27 PM

I went from 70 kilos to 60 during last few months, I need a sandwich haha

Riffhard 03-10-2010 04:30 PM

Went from 240lbs to 195lbs in half a year just by giving up fast food. The week after giving it up I felt absolutely terrible, like I was going through withdrawal. Went to McDonald's a few weeks ago and after finishing my meal I had the worst headache ever. I was dizzy and nauseous.

I swear, they need a surgeon's general warning or something.

brassmonkey 03-10-2010 04:30 PM

i lost about 250 pounds when divorced my wife j/k :1orglaugh

TheDoc 03-10-2010 04:36 PM

Hey dyna mo,

P90x, huh? Looks like a great/intense program! I was thinking about ordering it this week. What's the deal on the nutritional plan they suggest?

If you don't mind and have the time, please hit me on ICQ!

Thanks,

J$

hey, i don't really do the icq these days but i can tell you the p90x diet is a good, solid program. it's split into 3 phases- lo carb, moderate carbs and high carbs. as you progress through the workout and the sessions get more intense, the carb requirements go up.

they have you calculate your daily required calories and then add ~400 calories to that.

it's not a calorie deficit diet program, it's one to give you enough energy to power through the intense workouts.

holler back with any other questions, this is my 2nd time going through the program and highly recommend it, it is crazy intense exercise!

By limiting yourself to 1000 calories all you did was make your body start burning up muscle as energy and slowed your metabolism to burn only 1000 or so calories a day.

Once you limit your calories like that your body just adapts to that 1000 calories.

If you want to learn proper diet you should take the time to watch these videos..this guy knows what he is talking about

lolz, i actually get advice, just not from most here.

just dave and phil here both have good knowledge re: this sort of thing.

but the bottomline is we each have to figure out for ourselves a plan of action to get fit.

i get your sarcasm too.:1orglaugh:thumbsup

digitaldivas 03-10-2010 06:24 PM

yeah, i am doing tunafish in water, canned grean beans, you cannot beat 60 calories a can. I am doing maybe 1300 calories with that and limiting myself to one soda per day. I walk a mile and a half in the park right by my house every couple of days and use dumbells for my upper body right now.

I got in great cardio shape, and lost about 5 lbs. My main problem was I didn't follow the diet to a T, if I had i'm sure I would have been able to get into single digits in bf.

fris 03-10-2010 07:13 PM

I wasn't directing it at you i was directing it anyone else that wanted to starve themselves and have their body eat up muscle for energy.
