Brazzzer's Been Sold?

Heard a rumor has been sold to Germany company for 92 million.

Anyone else hear this?

I did not know it was even up for sale since they've been killing it.

:helpme

Arnox 03-13-2010 10:48 AM

I own Brazzers.

No, we're not selling it.

Kolargol 03-13-2010 10:53 AM

Any rumors about which german company it is?

datatank 03-13-2010 10:55 AM

Nope. I was asked if I had heard anything about them up for sale, or being sold, or the name of Germany company. The answer is, "No", on all accounts.

Other than their recent string of legal issues, I had heard money and content wise they have been doing really well. Especially from the content producers shooting for them.

:(

magpan 03-13-2010 11:00 AM

lol - this is old news. :)

Robbie 03-13-2010 11:01 AM

I hadn't heard anything about this until I read this thread. My guess would be that they sent somebody to Germany, set up a company and "sold" it to themselves?

Chosen 03-13-2010 11:05 AM

Yeah sure :)

it might be a german person, but definitely not a german company. nobody in his right mind would buy porn sites in the name of a german company cause this would bring all the legal hassle with age verification etc. with it. flushing the money down the toilet would have the same effect

datatank 03-13-2010 11:16 AM

I am for sure no expert but I can see Germany as the best place to "sell" too if you were just trying to play shelf company/offshore games to protect yourself

minddust 03-13-2010 12:30 PM

Fuck 'em

MrDeiz 03-13-2010 12:35 PM

Yep. That was my initial thought as well.

I do not follow all of the legalities for different counties, but I thought porn in Germany was a no-no or had some strict limitations in that regard.

Kelli58 03-13-2010 12:38 PM

It would make sense if they did sale - why all the sudden the major bold changes in policy like flat out posting Vivid, DP and Wicked movies in their members area - not seeming to care about anything or any sort of potential legal ramification that might be associated with any of their current actions.

rabbit 03-13-2010 12:41 PM

the rumour i heard is they got bought by owners of xtube.com, cant confirm this though...

Bingo. Done to escape all the law suits against them now. If it was actually sold.

Aren't they in Canada? So they don't need to escape, they are outside of the US. And I don't think they will lose the lawsuit either.

I don't think that being in Canada helps you in a lawsuit brought on by the U.S. govt. against a company you set up in Atlanta (though in all honesty that case is bullshit)

And I don't think being a company in Canada is going to help you in the lawsuit that PV has against them. But "selling" the company and cutting all ties to it might help. Kinda confuses things at the very least.

Even if TB wins the lawsuit, they will win it in the US, not? That would be one part...getting the money from a non-US company would be the harder part, I think.

But then again, there really isn't a case, more a scare tactic, there is no way brazzers would lose this lawsuit. Lawyers will win, though.

I don't know, if they lost the lawsuit against the U.S. I know they'd be up shit creek. (I don't think they will lose that, I think the govt. is full of shit on that charge) But if they did the U.S. would get their money. No doubt about that. One way or another.

On the Top Bucks lawsuit...I DO think they have a good chance of losing that. And there are a lot of ramifications to that if they attempted to not pay. Including losing their domains amongst other things that can be done.

Not sure if any of this has anything to do with this story. But I'm thinking that IF you set up a company somewhere else and made it appear that you don't still own it...well then it would be really, really hard to take those domains away from the new "innocent" company now wouldn't it?

if really Virage Media bought it (the owner of Xtube and a few other big sites) then this has absolutely nothing to do with it. i would rather think the lawsuits came after the purchase and might not be very pleasant for the new owner (if there is one).

If they've sold into Europe watch out for the VAT man trying to catch any past VAT that might be due :)

I don't think its that easy. Everyone could abuse it like that then.

SGS 03-13-2010 03:36 PM

If it was a sale of convenience Germany would be bottom of a very long list.

Definitely not that easy to get away from a lawsuit and hide assets. It would be the new owner's fault for not doing proper due diligence on the company and its assets that he was purchasing. Ignorance would never fly as a valid excuse.

ack 03-13-2010 03:49 PM

98 mill still seems cheap for them if its all their assets
