i'm hearing good things about Windows 7, have you upgraded to it?
A couple of our peeps here at the office are using it (and digging it).
Have you switched over yet? if yes, how do you like it - did it meet or exceed your expectations? |
No, gonna wait till 2011.
No, not yet, but my friend told me it is good rather than vista.
no problems here very stable OS except occasional blue screen of death here and there... j/k, it's solid ))
I upgraded to it. Only incrementally better than vista, drivers seemed a bit more stable. Since moved to all Mac machines.
I'm going to wait awhile so the bugs get worked out first
Works more then good for me :thumbsup
I wouldnt choose any other OS at this point

I just upgraded from win2k to windows 7, been less than 24 hours. Overall it's rather fast, its stable, widgets are cool, every device was found without need of a cd, and it's very clean looking. I did a clean install, it took less than an hour to be back on the Internet.
Issue wise, when I installed Movie Maker and it failed to install... I tried again, and it installed. Non real issue wise, I don't like that it takes up 500mb of ram doing nothing. It doesn't come with windows movie maker but you can download it. It's missing a few other windows basics too, like outlook or at least I haven't seen it yet. It also hides a lot of stuff, like settings files for programs you have installed - which was more annoying than anything. I know it's only been 24 hours but I hope that helps. |
I am not going to upgrade at home yet, the computers at my job will be upgrading this summer and I will see how it is first, most likely I'll just get a new computer with 7 if all is good. My wife has 7 on her laptop and seems very happy with it. I will keep my current computer also with XP Pro just in case some older software is not compatible with 7.

I work my PC like a donkey going up a mountain loaded with bricks.
7 kicks ass. I have the 64 bit version on my main work monster. I also have the 32 bit on my secondary machine and on my laptop. Best PC experience I've ever had. |
Windows 7 FTW!
Nah... I still use XP and to tell the truth I'm not going to upgrade anything ...my machine works just perfectly, like swiss clock. It's super fast and got all the software I need. :pimp
Perhaps when I will need some another machine I will consider buying one with W7 preinstalled. |
Using Ultimate 64bit version with SSD drive and dual moniter setup.
Very stable and super FAST. :) |
It's great. I even upgraded my netbook with 1 GB of ram to Win7 Premium and it runs smooth as silk. Using it to run a wall-mounted touchscreen in my house that is on 24/7. It never needs rebooting (although I had to a few times to install updates)
Seems much more stable than Vista Ultimate I am running on my desktop. |
My mate uses it. He said it definatly doesnt use as much ram & harddrive as vista
Just FYI: Remote Desktop (as a host) and Windows 7 Home = Fail
I never upgrade Windows till I pick up a new machine. I think I just missed it when I got my newest laptop.
Upgraded no way, but bought a new computer with Win 7, 8 gigs of Ram and a 1 TB hard drive and its awesome.
I think it's awesome :)
Best OS so far for PC :thumbsup

Almost have all of my machines switched over. It's terrific, and I can't believe I'm saying that about a Windows OS.
Can anyone tell me which version I need to get IIS with it? I bought a new PC that has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (it'll be here Wednesday) but I'm thinking that won't have IIS. I hope I can add it on, though.
I upgraded and I'm loving it. Stable, fast easy on the eyes.
I bought me a new vaio because my old one was running slower and slower and you know just getting old. But now I have cleaned her up a little, installed W7 and it runs really smooth and fast now. Oh well, nothing wrong with having a perfectly fine laptop as a backup |
Slow to upgrade as of yet.
the only windows machine I have is an Asus netbook, 1gb ram with XP on it. Probably wouldn't upgrade unless I got a free copy.
Yes, and it kicks ass.
Had it for a few weeks before I took the PC laptop back and got a macbook. W7 is ok, just a more stable version of Vista and as usual, Leopard/Snow Leopard shit all over it.
I do like it better.
shedloads better than vista, i'm really happy with it and it gets a serious daily workout, had it for 2 months and so far no issues, stripping out alot of the widgets and turning off some of the ram intensive stuff like superfetch and windows search really brings it to life, seriously quick with 4gb ram.
Its good but its not nearly as good as these people make it out to be. Its like XP. Nice and stable.
I haven't :)

I use it as well at home and it's very stable, haven't had any issues so far which is pretty unique...
It really sucked out of the box but with some tuning its pretty good now.
generally positive feedback.
i tend to go with "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" which is why it's going to take me longer to switch from WinXP. |
Not updating it so far..
best OS so far.. only issue is drivers for it aren't all up to date with some products
for mircosoft |

I switched about a month ago and I love it
I've upgraded some smaller systems, but not my main one yet. I'm impressed so far.

The next version of Premiere is going to be native 64 bit as well. And it too will not run on XP as 64 bit. A lot of programs that are 64 bit won't run on XP and when they move to the next version they will have long left XP behind. And of course in a few years there will be zero support for XP from Microsoft. http://support.microsoft.com/lifecyc...=en-gb&C2=1173 But the good news is that 7 really kicks ass. I loved XP. And when I went to Vista for the ability to use Photoshop 64 bit I was hating life. But 7 is like XP on steroids in my experience so far. :) |
not yet... :pimp
