Metro 2033...

I'm thinking about getting this game, but I'm not sure...
Is the single player any good? I heard many complains about this game but according to what I saw on youtube the gameplay is pretty good...
What should I do?

I am not game person, but I've read the book. The book was quite interesting, btw it's russian book and author :)
