Shunning the noobs

Why do people have to shun forum noobs?

Do you not realize there would be much less evolution and innovation if the same old hags said how things go and what will be done?

The noobs come with a fresh formless perspective, I know it's GoFuckYourself but really what is the point of pushing away someone new to the industry? Are you scared something might change? Sorry boutcha but things will always change either way..

"OMG this guy has 20 friggin' posts, he couldn't possibly know anything or teach me anything new", this is the kind of mind state is see around here, and it's completely wrong.

People just entering the industry usually have some of the most amazing ideas.

Robbie 03-23-2010 11:38 PM

Well, lately a lot of the new people who have showed up here have actually been people who HATE our business and use this forum to ask questions and try to get some kind of half-assed idea about how our business works.

And then they turn on us and use everything that they think they have learned to try and hurt us.

I'd just as soon have this board open ONLY to people who are actually in this business and can show the mods what they do.

Yeah, if someone is "new" but can show that yes they are in this business...then by all means bring 'em on in. But for me personally...the days of seeing a thread with a brand new member with some stupid ass "nickname" (all of these nicknames are high-schoolish to me) and actually answering them...are over.

I have been taught over and over in my 10+ years in this industry that noobie doesn't always mean stupid..... some have come in and actually taught me a thing or two. THOSE noobies I love and adore and soak up all they can teach me.... it's the ones that come in and expect me to do it all for them that drive me crazy. The ones that want you to do it all and not learn a thing from it.

I have a noobie hit me up a few months ago and I just knew it was going to be a "here we go again" but within just a little while, he became someone I totally respect and do business with to this day.........

But...... had another girl that hit me up 4 months ago and knows nothing more now than she knew the day I took that phone call and pages me daily wanting to know when she is to get paid..... and she deleted the site I setup for her 2 weeks after I set it up..... because the registrar wouldn't setup her email acct. rotfl

Why? Because most of the people here are stuck up egocentric cunts who care more about the next 'would you hit it' thread than they do about helping new people, and yet they were all noobs themselves once.

They should have kept you banned. You contribute exactly NOTHING to this forum.

There are some noob paysite ops (well at least not well known) who are coming up with some good sellable tours now days. So nothing but respect to anyone young and/or noob. It is the new money, ideas, angles, ideas about sex, and the ability to relate, that I see is being invested in the biz. Respect. :thumbsup

Porn and webmastering is essentially ageless, however, I do try to borrow a few slang words I hear from the "young and happening" crowd. I also remember to never write "swell" anywhere. :)

Sarah_Jayne 03-24-2010 03:37 AM

I don't care if somebody has posted once or a thousand times. It is all in the content of their actual posts. I am sure a lot of people just sit and wait to make sure it is a 'real' nick before welcoming them into the fold too much.

Vjo 03-24-2010 04:02 AM

Actually it has nothing to do with noob or not. I think everyone feels they are getting shunned to a degree.

Nature of the beast. Most are here to promote more than "chat" or relate. Hence if you don't have alot to offer as in a great prog, traffic service, a bro at the last convention, ect you just won't get alot of feedback.

Ya got to remember many guys here go back years and that is the nature of people to chum about with familiar nicks. But most here just want to promote, drop their sig and get on with their day.

If people leave you alone here that is a good thing. :winkwink:

Is that a new hazing ritual or something?

If anyone feels that they are being ignored, oh well...

Get involved. Contribute. And drop the sensitive bullshit.

Everyone here is an adult, right?

Agent 488 03-24-2010 09:06 AM

people are dumb. some nicks that have 20 posts have millions of uniques a day and send hundreds of joins yet people go "stfu 20 post noob." most people know jack shit.

BestXXXPorn 03-24-2010 09:08 AM

Not just forum noobs but also adult industry noobs...

I can't get shit for respect from anyone in the adult industry because I don't have a track record in the adult industry... never mind that I'm a lead developer for the largest dating site/company in the world, I successfully ran my own online business for 5 years, and I have eleven years of development experience in mainstream working for over 30 Fortune 500 companies... I've architect'ed multi-million dollar applications for cities and major corporations yet for some reason none of any of this applies to the adult space in the eyes of most people in this industry...

I can't even get people to return emails when I'm offering them a business proposal to increase their revenue and jump on some new technology.

Unknowingly piss someone off so bad about something that happened months before you even arrived here and she held this grudge ever since. First day I got here it was an all out war resulting in everyone hating me because "America's Sweetheart" didn't like me. The haters then followed me to every post I made just to mock me. You'll make friends quickly. :winkwink:

Few posts does not equal new to the business. I think people here don't like newbies who come and ask stupid questions. However, there are plenty of people here who show no respect for anyone, whether they are a newbie or a veteran.
