I guess I should check my utility bills a little closer
I admit, when it comes to paying my monthly bills, auto-pay is the way to go. I find it to be much easier for me. Now I wonder how much I am being ripped off for.
I rarely even look at my statements, just pay and forget. For some reason I looked at my most recent SCE bill and was astonished to see that it said I had a balance due of $252.42. Now, that may be normal for some of you, but my average electric bill is $40-50/mo. I thought for sure that my auto pay must have gotten screwed up when the bank changed all my card numbers, but no, they were suggesting that I had used 1,121 KWH in the last month. That is 35 KWH a day, when I normally use 10-12 over the last two years! Got them on the phone and they had me read the meter. 8253, with the prior reading being 8026. The bill said I was at 9,147. Obviously, someone was not paying attention. I hate that people are so inept these days that I can't even trust my utility bills to be [at least] close to correct. Guess the point of this rant is check your bills. </rant> |
I do auto-pay for everything but I also check the balances every month.
