I like them. Customer service has always been good. The only thing I do not like is the dvr's they use. They tend to break down in about a year. The HD dvr I have will occasinally freeze. I wish they would have stuck with Tivo.

Promoted them for years, but I have cable:winkwink:

I've had DirecTV for over 2 years now. I'd recommend them.

I had them a few years ago. I liked them overall, but when it rained heavy or snowed, the signal would cut out, and I'd be screaming at my fucking tv.

Now, I have Verizon FiOS, and I'll never go back to satellite or Comcast, --er, Xfinity (or whatever the fuck they're called now).

I loves me some FiOS. :2 cents:

I have had direct tv for 5 years. It's my only form of entertainment. I get all the channels they offer with the VOD service. NBA, college basketball, NFL, and all my cooking shows in HD. It‘s expensive but worth every dime.

I've had them long enough that I am no longer under contract, and haven't been for over a year. Excellent customer service, and I'm a total and complete sucker for the NFL package. In the entire time I've had it, I've lost signal twice due to pouring rain, and the loss was maybe for 5 minutes each time.

They recently sent a guy out to switch out my dvr and put a small antenna on my roof after I whined about no local channels. Now I can get them through the dvr, record them, etc. They charged me 0 for this.

I will be a customer for a good long time, if nothing changes.

Had them for 12 years loved them.

Just moved to FIOS because of cost and because I am in Boston and lately I have experienced spottier service. I think with them adding so many satellites it has done something to the service.

I've had Direct TV for 7 years and it's great. Originally got it for the NFL Sunday Ticket and never looked back.

Cant beat the NFL Sunday Ticket with the superfan package. You can watch games on your computer or cell phone.

I had complete access to all the games while I was in Italy last September.

I would definitely go with DirecTV.

I'm a sports junkie so I've had em for like 6-7 years now. NFL Superfan/Sunday Ticket. MLB Extra innings, Mega March madness, college football package. I basically get it all and have the premium package with hd/dvr. Great service that rarely ever goes out.

DirecTV is great....
but they do tend to nickle and dime you....
it's amazing how quick the $114 Premier package turns into a ~$194 bill..
Not to mention having to pay $99 per HD reciever ($199 for HDDVR) ( I have 1 HDDVR, 5 HD, and 2 basic recievers), that you apparently don't actually own... they give you a $5 per reciever lease fee per month..
And if you deactivate a reciever.. say to upgrade and older non-HD to and HD...
not only do you have to pay the $99 to get the HD reciever, they'll hit you with a $50 non-return fee, pdq.. even though it took them 6 weeks to ship out the return box.
So there's
$114 for the package..
$40 for lease fees...
$10 for HD access..
$6 for the protection plan
$7 for DVR service
$5 for the HD Extra pack..
+taxes...
(+ the $800 spent on recievers i don't own)

Still though... the PQ is infinitely better than Comcast was..

They rock!

BIGTYMER 03-26-2010 10:05 PM

They'll rock a little more when they add Travel Channel HD and BBC America HD.

I've been with DirecTV since 1996. I've never had any real issues with the service. There are obviously other options out there, it just all depends on what you're looking for, that will be a deal breaker or deal sealer for you. I'm a sports enthusiast, and so having NFL Sunday Ticket/Super Fan are Fall staples for me, in addition to having other sports subscriptions and access to all the various RSNs (Regional Sports Networks). Other than that, I value almost all the HD offerings (with the exception of Food Network HD LOL), so that's an added value. You can find more detailed information by running a google search for the AVS Forum, wherein they have DirecTV forums up the ying-yang. I will say that the price points are certainly not cheap, but nothing is really cheap these days.
