Have never went fishing before, so this is going to be my first time... Any tips from gfy fishermen? :)

Don't expect to land something on your first time. Enjoy the experience. Much of what makes fishing fun is just the plain fact you're out there doing it and just enjoying the moment. Too much expectations is what ruins a fishing trip.

Listen to the captian and especially the fist mate. They want you to catch fish and will do everything they can to hook you up...if they're good.

I used to go, when I drive I'm find, but if I charter, I get SO SEA SICK. Last time I went to Cabo and the fuckers took us 20 miles out, fuck that.

Stay close to shore so if you get sick, you don't have a far ride back.

Bottom fishing, few hundred meters away from coastline?

use live bait and a long leader with the lightest line you can get away with

Yep. If you even think you might get sea-sick do this. I have only been deep sea fishing a couple of times, but in each case there has been at least one person who ends up puking and feeling like hell the entire trip.
