Twitter Traffic?

I'm curious ...

Does anyone use twitter as a traffic channel and how successful has it been for you?

I have mixed feelings on its success rate versus just being oversaturated spamming but have seen an increasing number of affiliates inquiring about sending traffic through Twitter lately.

fatfoo 03-28-2010 11:28 AM

I never used it, but I think it would be low quality. It's almost like spamming.

Agent 488 03-28-2010 11:33 AM

spam-o-rama.

Pandoras 03-28-2010 03:16 PM

ok , then who is using other social networking applications then Twitter , and who are they ? Are they better then Twitter ? I'm really curious , thanks

alias 03-28-2010 03:18 PM

Anyone making sales on non b2b on there?

mikke 03-28-2010 03:26 PM

twitter = spam-o-rama = low quality

dont use it

Vendzilla 03-28-2010 03:29 PM

still makes sence to use twitter for promotion?
Martha Stewart Does it

Horny Dude 03-28-2010 06:33 PM

I tried it for some dating programs and it was bad. I didn't have a ton of followers, but the traffic I got was just non-performing.

BIGTYMER 03-28-2010 06:35 PM

As with all traffic its hit or miss. But its traffic. And super easy to get traffic at that.

starpimps 03-28-2010 06:56 PM

there is no money in twitter

I second this question ... one I have noticed is TAGGED.com.

Vendzilla 03-28-2010 09:40 PM

tagged gets a lot of spam

Darrah 03-28-2010 11:55 PM

Get into an argument with Jenna Jameson where she then complains about you being mean to her to all her thousands of followers. I got double my blog traffic this weekend. :upsidedow

Abbie 03-28-2010 11:57 PM

Twitter is in our top 3 for both traffic and sales. If you know how to use it properly, it can be a great tool for your business.

People make the mistake thinking Twitter is about spamming and getting meaningless traffic.

It's about contacts. Use your brain...

scouser 03-29-2010 05:41 AM

i run http://twitterbabes.allpornmodels.com/ (where people can "vote" for pornstars on twitter, even though it has no point to it)

from the voting i have on there, it seems (rough guesses from looking at the db entries, no real stats worked out ) 80% are old men who repeatedly reply to pornstars tweets (in the hope of getting a reply??), they will repeatedly vote for certain pornstars (raven riley seems to have the biggest following ever. some of them even email me asking about the votes and stuff, and if the site is down for 10 mins ill get emails or messages on twitter asking about it because they can't vote for her).

those guys do seem like the type that join sites though. but they seem to fall in love with one girl and just @message them all the time. i think its worth it if you're a sologirl/babe, but for a general babe site i dont think its worth the effort.

plus i recon one day twitter will crack down on adult links. you can't have boobs etc in the background / avatar pics at the moment (but it seems linking to porn is ok)

+1......

Twitter traffic is hit or miss for just about any niche. it converts better if not presented as blatant spam, but doesn't traditional marketing work the same? If it doesn't seem like spam its more qualified. Spam gets the lookie loos who will click on anything.

Agent 488 03-29-2010 09:12 AM

what Twitter blaster you use?

Davy 03-29-2010 09:20 AM

Twitter makes only sense if you are a celebrity or want to become one.
Traditional multi-girl run-of-the-mill programs will fail miserably.

Joanna Angel 03-29-2010 09:24 AM

I think it's a great tool for getting traffic... we have gotten great conversions from twitter- and it's fun. However, I am sure different things work for different people.

alexchechs 03-29-2010 09:24 AM

We use it to great success. It's all about how you use rather than how much you use it. We have seen our conversions as high as 1:100 on our posts.

Shit, I got hundreds of new followers with a ton load of hate replies. Jenna then threatened to get her lawyers after me and send me a cease email. Never got anything. Some of her fans then came to my blog calling me a "stalker and cyberbully". STFU ! :firehair

twitter is good source:upsidedow

[ Nate ] 04-03-2010 08:17 AM

Yes and I do get traffic from it. However, its not a lot because I don't focus on it a lot. It SEEMS you need to go follow a bunch of other people as well in order to even get yourself noticed. Then start building from there. At least thats my experience.

The most exciting thing? Hardly. The first time I got mentioned on ********, now that rocked! This was a pain in the ass. I only mentioned it HERE because I saw this thread. I got so many replies that it took so long to reply back to as many as I did. I don't know how people with hundreds of thousands or millions of followers do it everyday on Twitter. Now if I ever mention her name again on Twitter, those hundreds that came over because of her will complain again because I was MEEN 2 HUR !!11!11!11!!!

SGS 04-04-2010 02:44 AM

Twitter works very well but there are a lot of clueless idiots out there that don't know how to use it. :2 cents:

Ecchi22 04-04-2010 04:28 AM
