Request to GFY: Please add a shit list section to the forum
Wouldn't this be a good idea?
lots of forums have them, and I reckon they work. If not how about a pinned thread in one of the sections with a list of scammers? people can add to it (with proof of course) Or perhaps do something different, and do a feedback forum. People who have done deals on the board can post who they have dealt with and who they trust. |
I doubt GFY/parent company wants to be held liable or sued.

yep good idea think it should be done for verified scammers

I think the other idea might be better. a feedback forum. Instead of being a negative thing and calling people scammers. have it so people can post good and positive comments about members. |
most shit lists are complete crap with people bitching about a pre-checked cross sell like it was bernie madoff so no.
|
Its a good idea for verified scammer lists. But I doubt GFY wants to get in the middle of shit.

Verified being even better and/or proof posted. |
I think GFY can have at least a section of "nicknames banned" and "reasons why banned."

scammers just create a new nick and icq when they are exposed anyway. maybe just create a sticky on how to avoid scams and how to use the search function.

Seriously though. where would GFY get tangled up in any threads posted by other people on a public forum? I dunno. Thats why I said about the opposite as a soloution aswell. A "trusted list" and make it positive instead. That way people could post they had good deals with members and there would be less "scammed by ????" threads. |

Look at most U.S. based, business owned or run, big forums. For example, DP, GFY, MP, YNOT, among many others. They all typically say, "We do not get involved in business/deal disputes". Some will actually have rules, or tips, in their Buy & Sell sections stickies at the top. Including the use of ESCROW.COM and resolution processes. However, they do not want to get involved in the middle of he said-she said, nor defaming people's businesses based on pissed off fry cooks, and $5 domain deals. |
Far too many people bitch and whine over meaningless and petty things. It would just turn into a bash fest and would serve no real purpose in the end.
Not to mention legal issues. |

"trusted list" would be a better idea. |
On forums having it iTrader always seems to get abused and become unreliable and that is purely for honesty style feedback.
Proven scammers always seem to have many usernames on sites anyway, so as soon as you kill off one they move to another aged name which looks more trustworthy than one set up yesterday and carry on. Alot of people do seem to get scammed just because they can't be bothered to spend 30 seconds doing a quick check up on someone though so it is hard to sympathise sometimes. |

Might atleast cut it down a bit. Quote:
And your 100% right about the rest. That might be why the perfect solouting is not a shit list. but a trusted list |

A dedicated section would also make it easier for people to defend themselves, before the threads are gone to page 10 and damage is done. |

I think a trusted list, or maybe even "recommended by members" section would be best. Or a shit list and trusted list. etc.. there's lots of ways to do it without it being too complicated. Legal stuff, fuck that. if there is a trusted list or recommended by members section. all it would need is "these statement are not endorsed by gfy.com or any of it's employees, affiliates or by the parent company. And we are not responsible for these statement, which are posted by members." (that could be put better obviously) But it wouldn't incur any legal problems. |
