Little more than love stories.

You did not miss much. Although, it looks like in a few weeks we may actually see some action again. This series is a disappointment for me as a history buff. Sex and love stories are great and all. But I thought this was actually supposed to be about the entire Pacific campaign (similar to Band of Brothers).

Oh well. I guess we can save the final review until episode 10...

Band of Brothers is one of the best mini-series ever produced IMHO. Given the relationship, it's been VERY disappointing so far. Hope it gets better.

True dat.

I watched the first two and I like it

aniloscash 03-29-2010 12:06 AM

this post is bad news I was looking forward to watching it. I heard it was better than band of brothers. : (

Spieglergirls 03-29-2010 12:25 AM

A bit slow so far. But, I will withold judgement until after the episodes centering on E.B. Sledge are aired.

JD 03-29-2010 12:29 AM

yeah Band of Brothers was fucking epic. I've been a tad apprehensive to watch The Pacific... but I might give it a shot on OnDemand.

I have to disagree with you. I thought the first two episodes were good. There was some good action and we slowly started to get to know the different characters. Tonight's episode was about them and finding out who they are and what type of people they are. It showed that these guys can kill with their bare hands, yet still hang onto their humanity. It also showed that war tears people apart not just in death, but in separation and it kills people's hope for the future and causes them to be people who cannot allow themselves to get to involved with someone for fear of losing them. It makes everyone, even the non combatants, think about protecting themselves first and foremost.

The Pacific is not about the entire pacific campaign, it focuses mostly on a small group of people and their experiences within it.

It may turn out to not pull itself together, but for me the series is shaping up to be powerful and good.

I guess we each had our own expectations based on BoB series.

For me BoB was the same way. It took 2-3 episodes for me to really get a handle on it and see who they are going to focus on and where it is going then it just took off. I guess it is still to be seen if the Pacific will do the same.

kowalsky 03-29-2010 07:56 AM

First 2 episodes were ok, I am still expecting more... I didnīt watch episode 3 yet, hope to watch it tonight.

IllTestYourGirls 03-29-2010 08:12 AM

I DVR it have not watched #3 yet. I think it has been pretty good so far.

John-ACWM 03-29-2010 08:58 AM

Looked forward to that but now I am a little disappointed...

quantum-x 03-29-2010 09:01 AM

If you asked me to identify the main 5 characters, I wouldn't be able to do it.
I've been finding myself doing other things while watching the eps, which is sad.

mvee 03-29-2010 09:45 AM

The overall story telling including the action sequences are slow. Not giving up yet but a little disappointed. Those Aussie chicks were hot though!!

SpongeBub 03-29-2010 10:24 AM

I haven't made more than 20 minutes of either of the first two episodes. Guys sitting around in a jungle spouting a bunch of "noble" war talk. Boring. Maybe it will get better but where are the women? BoB had lots of women - in the jungle, there are no women.

J. Falcon 03-29-2010 10:26 AM

It's complete garbage.

Agent 488 03-29-2010 10:29 AM
