SOCCER: Arsenal v Barcelona: The Beautiful Game?

That is how Football should be played!

Was that not just one of the best games you have ever witnessed? Fast, attacking, free flowing football at its finest. Just when you think Barcelona have done enough to pack up and go home, BAM 1 goal from Walcott (who has so much pace it's not fair) and then a silly mistake from a very very experienced defender and its 2-2.

I honestly fancy Arsenals chances now next week to go through. Barcelona are without their two central defenders, while Arsenal are without Cesc Fabregas.

Game on, I say.

PS I'm buying Mobile Traffic. Hit me up!!!

Arsenal were exceptionally lucky and will be hammered in the second leg.

Hammered? I doubt it. Beaten? Possibly. I genuinly think its game on tho. Barcelona don't have any real good defenders other than Puyol and Pique. If Arsenal can get the first goal, they could just do it.

However, if Barca get an early goal, then yes it is possible that they will go on to win easily.

Yeah, it was a good game! The only issue I have with it is the last penalty and Puyol's red card. In my opinion this wasn't deserved, because Fabregas stuck his leg in Puyol's...
Other than that amazing football!

Adraco 03-31-2010 03:15 PM

The football rule book is very clear, if you hinder, push or trip a player who has a otherwise free shot on goal, you automatically get the red card. Yes, Fabregas leg somehow strangely gets in between Puyol's but none the less, it's a clear penalty and automatic red card.

I will root for the Gunners in the return fight, as a true United fan, I'd love to see Barcelona being kicked out early.

bbobby86 03-31-2010 03:18 PM

big come back... barcelona was better teem..

pradaboy 03-31-2010 03:24 PM

First half Barca was amazing, they should have been up by 3 at least. Then second half amazing goals by Ibra. Shame they let the pace drop and Arsenal took it over. Still not sure about the penalty, should he just have gone out of Fabregas' way so he can shoot? You don't have to make it easy for your opponent right? Felt the red card was harsh for sure.

Anyway loved the game, shame Messi was not on top of his game.

Great game, I would have prefered if Barca had won though but I'm pretty sure they will go through to the next round.

PornoStar69 03-31-2010 03:50 PM

Arsenals goalkeeper was fucking class in the first half made some fantastic saves. Fair play to Arsenal its not over till its over, play till the whistle. Walcott came on and changed it, his running on the wing was good, fast attacking play they couldnt cope (lesson to fellow footy players) With the 2 Barca defenders out and only Fabregas & maybe Arshavin Arsenal got a good chance beating them at the Nou camp.
What happened to Messi he was pretty quiet, best player in the world?

would of been funny if someone ran on the pitch and cock-slapped the ref LOL :) million views on Youtube traffic traffic traffic sales sales sales = money :)

that was really good game

RedSkorpio 03-31-2010 04:07 PM

Arsenal got lucky this time they won't have a chance for the next round in spain.

CunningStunt 04-01-2010 02:50 AM

Great game.

I actually thought the Puyol sending off was harsh, he ran to get the ball, Fabregas didn't see him coming and tried to kick the ball, but got his leg tangled up between Puyols. Apparently it's broken - but he still took the penalty! I guess that's what adrenalin will do for you.

Scott McD 04-01-2010 02:58 AM

Fuck knows how Arsenal got a draw out of that game.

Barcelona POUNDED Arsenal for the first 20mins, then after going in 0 - 0 at half time, got themselves a nice 2 goal lead.

I had money on Barca so i was obviously thinking it was safe. Then somehow Arsenal got back into it. The keeper should have saved Walcott's shot, and then the penalty which was more just bad luck than anything else. Puyol certainly didn't do much wrong, just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I still fancy Barca to win it at home, and i hope they do. The competition needs them in it.

Plus i hate Arsenal and that moaning prick Wenger anyway... :2 cents:

Yes, still the best player in the world.

He has been simply amazing for the past few months. But even the top players can't do it in every single game. Watch out for him in the 2nd leg... :winkwink:

A Great Game - Well Done to Both Teams!
Will be looking for a link to watch the return match on! No Sky here..

ManU vs. FC.Bayern was a great game too (exciting and entertaining), was really impressed by the great plays of Munich. They won 2-1 in the last minute.

This is priceless coming from you! Honestly! :)

Barca were different class! Fast, flowing, attacking football! Great football! Yes, they should have won and if they had no one would have been surprised. Having said that, THE Arsenal showed great resolve to turn the game around.

I'm an Arsenal fan and even I was a little dubious about that penalty but in reality if that had happened outside the box, it would have been deemed a foul. So in reality, it is a penalty no matter how harsh. The red card was rightfully shown as a direct result of it being deemed a foul from a goal scoring opportunity.

I think we'll struggle at the Nou Camp - we're minus Gallas, Eboue, Arshavin and Fab. At the end of the day, I think the Young Guns showed a good account of themselves and I'm proud of my team - win or lose!

The Duck 04-01-2010 03:56 AM

It was a nice game however I do not feel the Puyol red card was warranted, I don't even think it was a penalty.

nico-t 04-01-2010 04:11 AM

arsenal will prevail motherfuckers!!!!!!

roly 04-01-2010 05:25 AM

great game, barcelona should have killed off the game but let arsenal back in. should be a good return leg. barcelona will be favourites but arsenal on their day can play some amazing fast attacking one touch football. can't wait.

i think man united will be too strong for bayern at home, but it looks like rooney will be out so who knows.

gaffg 04-01-2010 05:39 AM

arsenal lost 3 players that game, they still have a chance technically but the next game their chances don't look good

That's exactly what i was hearing for Real Madrid VS Lyon...
You never know what's gonna happen

Paul Markham 04-01-2010 06:42 AM

As an ex FA referee I can say it was a penalty. Even if Fabrigas stuck his legs between the defenders. The defender was making a tackle and cocked it up.

As for being a great game, too one sided for that. Arsenal were lucky and I support them After West Ham. Don't give them much much chance in Spain.

Messi played well in the midfield but it was interesting to see what he would do against a good team.
