interesting thread, I have been looking at sony z and f series, while waiting for the new macbook pro

What processor is the new MacBook Pro going to be running?

and I'm very pleased with it. I do 3d animation, so I needed a desktop in laptop package when I need to visit clients. It's 1.7ghz, so it doesn't even come close to my Overclocked desktop machines, but its faster than any laptop that ISN'T an i7.

i have a core i7-920 Extreme laptop... not bad.
the limitation i have found is in the graphics cards available on laptops.

It's not known yet. But based on a list of i7 mobile processors I saw the other day, it iwll be a 2.53 & 2.66 I would guess.

I am also waiting for an i7 Mac. Can't wait. For the past 6 weeks, I keep hoping every Tuesday will bring the announcement finally. Maybe coming this Tuesday with any luck.:thumbsup
