HP is good! for basic internet surfing needs. Anything with 1 gig ram and 250gg hdd will do.

But seriously, i would save up a few extra hundred and buy something decent. nowadays I wouldn't even look at anything under 1 terrabyte (500gig hdd if u must) HDD and 4 gig ram.

before you know it, you'll want more and more out of your system and netbooks just won't be able to do it.

for $200 more you could get
New HP Compaq Presario CQ40-515AX 14.1 inch media notebook
# AMD Athlon X2 QL-65 ((Dual Core) 2.10GHz/2x 512KB L2 Cache/1.8GHz HT)
# 4GB DDR2 RAM
# 500GB 5400rpm SATA HDD
# DVD+/-RW dual layer drive
# 14.1 inch WXGA (1280 x 800) BrightView display
# ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 (512MB dedicated)
# Integrated 10/100 LAN, integrated 802.11 b/g WLAN, 56k modem
# Integrated audio with Altec Lansing speakers, 5-in-1 media card reader
# 3x USB ports, 1x VGA port, 1x HDMI port, 1x RJ-11 port, 1x RJ-45 port

you won't regret it. netbooks are just such a let down for those who are serious about their internet. they are probably more suited for ages under 8 or 10...

I'm using 10" netbook for almost two years now, and looking forward to buy 11,6" or 12" one...

Get an apple.

zabijaq 04-05-2010 08:13 AM

As Oracle Porn said, take Asus - best price/value. In past 2-3 years, Asus made huge step in notebook body quality, so there's absolutelly no reason to buy HP.

Asus make awesome motherboards.
HP has miserable drivers, no matter if it's notebook or printer, their drivers sux bigtime.

My brother bought a HP awhile ago and tbh i myself have no confidence in HP products ...

his mini pc which wasnt a netboook but a mini pc the motherboard fried about few weeks after a one year warranty...

I just hate HP products. I had similar experience years ago with HP and just refuse to buy any of there crap

u-Bob 04-05-2010 09:49 AM

the asus 1005 series....

zabijaq 04-05-2010 10:01 AM

Juicy: Yup, but their printers are good and cheap per printed page, but drivers are pain in ass (which you might like). My personal records is 4 hours of installing, uninstalling and reinstalling HP laserjet m1120 mfp to get scanner working under Win2k :D

bronco67 04-05-2010 10:35 AM

asus eepc seashell.

Great little computer.

Supz 04-05-2010 10:36 AM

Dont bother. get a real laptop for a little bit more money that you can actually use.

Mr. E 04-05-2010 10:40 AM

The iPad

MrBottomTooth 04-05-2010 01:41 PM

Windows 7 Starter sucks IMO. You'll want to upgrade to Premium. So factor that into the price when you are looking at these cheap netbooks.
