WHOIS Lookups - which is the best place?
 

I know about allwhois.com, whois.sc, domainwhitepages.com - anyone else who provides detailed info?

I need to "return a favour" to someone who just caused me 2 hours of fucking around :mad:

try domaintools.com

You can also run a whois right from your computer. On a Mac, click on Applications / Utilities / Network Utility / Whois

somebody posted robtex.com/dns/gfy.com few days back and it looked nice

domaintools is best usually.

Tracking this asshole further would be nice.

don't trust much online whois'es
i use Sysinternals whois.exe
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb897435.aspx
put exe in Windows or Windows/system32 folder and then do lookups from cmd prompt
ex: C:\>whois domainname.com

Command line if you're on OS X / *nix ...

whois domain.com

linux/macosx: $ whois domain.com
