Looks like it's using Apple's technology but it uses Flash so that makes things so much better.

I like the memory card reader and the USB support! Two things I think the iPad should have and which make a tablet / whatever MUCH more useful for a lot of people...

Ah just read some stats... cheaper, usb 2.0 support, multitasking, two cameras, SD card reader, audio and HDMI out...

This more like it! iPad getting owned by another company already.

When is it coming out? I want one of these little monsters. HP knows how to make some very sexy touch screen PCs and laptops, this will be a great tool!

This one will be available soon and sub-$500. Has HDMI and does full 1080p. It also has USB and Memory Card readers.

Flash will be redundant soon enough but lets get to a few other points:

1. iPad battery is not removable - the battery is not removable on the HP Slate either.
2. Battery life: iPad - 10 hours. HP Slate - 5 hours.
3. Currently available apps: iPad - 150,000+. HP Slate - 0.

The one thing I like about the slate is the dual cameras. I hope that makes apple add them to the iPad ASAP.

PS - I bet everyone in here who raves about the Slate never buys one. ;)

Not so much, still quite a while to go :P HTML5 is not a magical Flash killer :)

The end of flash is coming. The fact that there will be millions of devices that cannot run it has some major sites, like cnn.com, making their sites iPad and iPhone compatible. Wikipedia is getting videos soon but they will all be html5 videos. There is nothing wrong with flash other than it does not work well with touch screens.

Too bad HP sucks so hard. As much as I have no interest in the iPad, anything HP rates even lower on the interest scale.

Guys, we gotta look at this from the idiot surfer point of view, not the computer-savvy webmaster point of view. To us, the ipad is useless as fuck. It costs as much as a laptop and lets you do 1/50th of the things. To the regular surfer who browses ebay and shit like that the ipad is probably a great device.

According to the teardowns I've seen, there are two batteries in the ipad that can be changed fairly easily.

Yeah real win. Apple already sold 700,000 ipads, 1,000,000+ ipad apps and 250,000 ebooks and it's been what 3 days? LOL

it makes perfect sense they'd wait and release it on iPad2 in about 2 years.
