Smokers / Snus

Have any smokers here cut down or stopped smoking thanks to using snus? I'm thinking of giving it a shot.

No. It actually gives you more nicotine in your body and thus making you want more.

That said, you will smell better than when smoking...

bad fucking idea, everyone i knew who has tried that wound up smoking AND chewing on top of it. then they just wind up feeling like a bag of shit all day. i even found myself in the same boat, i smoked less for maybe a few days, then i was suddenly smoking the same amount, and just chewing additional nicotine in between. and besides that, try finding me any woman who is cool with her man chewing tobacco, they don't exist.

Eeew! If you want to continue using nicotine without smoking, try the e-cigs. I don't smoke, but I know several smokers who switched to the e-cigs and never looked back. They love it.

I tried 'em when the cutie Camel girl hit me up at the bar, but only once. I don't even smoke anymore (except on occasion), so whatevs. :)

Not true at all. I've quit a few times now for a few months at a time. Cold Turkey SUCKS. Sure it works, sometimes. Most of the time people just start getting bitchy as fuck, get headaches, feel like shit, and give right back into the smoking. A very small percentage of people who quit actually succeed by quitting coldturkey. The few who do succeed this way love to tout it as "the only way" because it is by a long shot the method which requires you as an individual to put the most effort in. at least that's my take on it.

I haven't smoked in a little over 4 months now and this time I used the nicorette inhaler for about 2 weeks or so. Made it much easier than ever having to go cold turkey. Quitting cold turkey will turn you into an irritable agitated fuck. Not so much with the inhaler, and it also keeps your whole muscle memory/habit occupied in the mean time. I imagine e-cigs would work along these lines too.

In the end it all boils down to willpower, but having a little extra something to help ween you off is nice. I stand by the inhaler, has BY FAR been the best transition from smoking to nonsmoking i've experienced.

ya, it does say it all...

every time i've quit smoking coldturkey i've started again, usually within weeks. doesn't exactly say what you figured does it? usually any time i've had an "i'm gonna quit coldturkey!" revelation i've started smoking again within days. which is exactly what most do.

if you try to quit smoking coldturkey odds are heavily weighed in that you're gonna fail. i would bet against anyone who tries to quit cold turkey, any day. because by day 2 or 3 they are gonna be hanging by a thin string, burning in flames...

how you quit has nothing to do with how you start smoking again a few months down the road. which in my experience, just for conversation sakes, tends to be related to drinking. so the fact that i quit cold turkey and started smoking again 3-4 or 6 months down the line, has no weight int he matter.

it takes determination no matter how you go about it. so why make in ten times harder than it needs to be and turn yourself into a miserable raging fuck in the process?

if you have the will power to quit cold turkey, you have the willpower to quit with an aid, and spare yourself the majority of your withdrawal side effects. i've quit 2 or 3 times for 4 month + stints having quit cold turkey, and every time i went through a solid week where friends and family didn't even want to talk to me because i turn into an angry raging fuck (which i usually reserve for gfy), i get sickly, feel like shit, and am constantly pressed by the urge to feed the nicotine hunger.

The inhaler made the transition damn near unnoticeable. It had even been commented on by friends "you were a lot less of a whiny bitch when you quit this time" and ya, i was...

if you really got something to prove, try quitting colturkey, if you actually want to quit, get with an aid program and stick with it...

I'd say it took me a good 20 tries before cold turkey worked.. Been 6 years now but I also gained about 50lbs in the process lol

BIGTYMER 04-07-2010 06:59 AM

Well I'm going to try it anyway. Anything is better then a cigarette.

paralavar 04-07-2010 02:39 PM

start with extra strong snus if you' re an heavy smoker, you' ll get a delicious nicotin buzz and will forget the cigs.
Been snusing for one year, it' s cheaper than medical nicotin substitutes, there are many different flavors and strengths from 4mg nicotin per gram to 16-17 mg. Snus is not baked with fire, i.e is almost not cancerigenous.
I get info at snuson.com ( forum ) and buy my stuff online at northerner.com.

I chew and have many fond memories to disprove your last statement.

But almost every one of them bitched about it, with the exception of maybe 3. :1orglaugh
