Bump for you!

st0ned 04-07-2010 07:35 PM

[email protected] - I always get the quickest response from her.

Mind elaborating? I've read today about the privacy leaks. Recently they dropped the A records I had setup on a domain for nameservers, thus taking 80 or so of my sites down for a week or more.

Not trying to bash them as they had always been good to me. But these recent issues have been making me debate moving my domains elsewhere.

CyberHustler 04-07-2010 07:47 PM

You mind giving some more details? I'm also a Moniker customer and would like to know what to look out for.

DBS.US 04-07-2010 08:00 PM

I know where you live:winkwink:

2MuchMark 04-07-2010 08:07 PM

I too would like to know more.

kaori 04-07-2010 08:14 PM

More Privacy issues?

Well I spoke to Bari, she did what she could and told me it would never happen again but the issue still isnt fixed so Im in wait and see mode. Unfourtantly my hands are tied right now so the only thing I can do is give them the opportunity to make things right. Its premature for me to go into specifics right now but im not happy for sure and how they handle things will have a major impact on my decision to stay with them or leave for another registrar. I'll deffiantly go postal if things arent fixed quickly, theres no doubt about it.

LiveDose 04-07-2010 09:21 PM

Good luck getting things back on track.

Smoke - I assure you it won't happen again. As I mentioned, I am in Phoenix until Sunday night so please keep me posted via email on the ticket. (I have my Blackberry)

Got a lot of domains with Moniker, always given me top notch service. I hope they can work this out for you.

When the money is back in my account it will be done, unitl then we are still in wait and see mode. The truth of the matter is im not happy with moniker at all right now. Has bari done her best to get things fixed, yes she has. Are things fixed, no they are not. The fact is I received 2 fraudulent charges to my cc that I had on file with them for url forwarding on a bunch of domains and then after speaking to bari, opening a support ticket and have reasurance that it would never happen again, it happend again 24 hours later. I wasnt going to post this but after thinking about it I think people should be made aware of the risks involved with having your cc on file with various companies, I know its been an eye oppener for me. And the thinng of it is that when I became a moniker customer several years ago after the registerfly fiasco I was given free url service. But its a mute point because I dont even use url forwarding. So here I am having to wait 48 hours and counting to be refunded for fraudulent charges made to my cc by moniker without permission and the only thing I have to show for it is some customer service manager offering me a fruit basket and popcorn to show that they arent fixing things behind the scenes as he put it!

GrouchyAdmin 04-09-2010 11:15 AM

i'll take the popcorn.

Moniker and they emailed me receipts for fraudulent url forwarding orders, thats how I knew it happened. Twice on the 7th and once again on the 8th after they were already alerted to the situation.

I wonder if it is a glitch in some type of auto-billing or something more nefarious?

I wondered that myself and bari made a comment in one of our communications the the system had been updated and it wouldnt happen again. Of course it happened again after she said that. But the things is that I dont use url forwarding and in the several years that I've been there its always been free. Also something that I was just thinking about a little while ago is that I have internet protection on my cc that is supposed to prevent this kind of thing. The way it works is that anytime I use the card online Im temporarily redirected to a security page and have to input a password and confirm the transaction. This has always been the case even when my card is on file with a company like Moniker. Everytime I've renewed domains with them the card details are already in the system and I still have to put in the security code.

You're still debating that? Holy shit. You must have a friend there or something. I would have started the process of transferring to namecheap within minutes of that fuck up.

I think your bank may be interested in knowing how that system has been subverted.

I have that system too where if I make a purchase it gets redirected for me to confirm with an additional passport.

It can be bypassed though and isn't always required.

I've never really thought about that until now. :Oh crap
