Could be many things ? was it Godaddy ? as they own a chinese company they use for snapping up domains to send to auction / if it was give them a call on thier 24-7 support line and im sure they will fix the problem.

If its not Godaddy I would still say simply call your registrar and explain what happened.

TeenCat 04-08-2010 12:43 AM

thank you cyf and claire, i am going to contact godaddy as it was the registrar and the domain was really good, so what claire said may be the cause. thank you much for reply hope it helps! have a nice day everyone! :thumbsup

As I dont know the total ins and outs of what took place....Have you called thier 24-7 support line...maybe doing so may help ? if you havent already done so already.

pradaboy 04-08-2010 09:33 AM

GoDaddy has always been shit and will continue to be shit. Don't waste your time on them. Next time you want a really nice expiring domain just backorder it @ NameJet.

CaptainHowdy 04-08-2010 11:37 AM

You're fucked...

adultforum 11-22-2010 05:45 PM

Where can we backorder a domain?

awxm 11-22-2010 05:53 PM

SnapNames or NameJet.

HomerSimpson 11-22-2010 06:03 PM

what register did you use?

Chris 11-22-2010 06:06 PM

more than one person was attempting to reg it

pretty common

As far as i know you cant buy a domain that is in redemption period. you can place a back order on one, multiple people and and companies can backorder the same domain.

I know this sucks for you, and if some any reason you would like me to call godaddy on behalf of you to argue with them I would since I am in the states. But every domain that is registered on godaddy has a parked site with godaddy before you set the site up. You can check my site here. giantbigbutts dot com. I have no yet started working on this site so it is still on godaddys DNS.

Argos88 11-22-2010 06:49 PM

Have you waited the 75 days after the domain expires?

You must wait 75 days after the domain expires, to be able to OWN that domain...

Otherwise you can pay the FEE, but if the original owner renews it, you lose it...

.

Heh, ~4-5 years ago I had two quite opposite situations where I backordered domains... expired domains were grabbed by other registrar, but not set in locked mode and as godaddy still had active backorder on them they grabbed the domains for me.

Still using one of them and sold other one for nice amount around a year ago :)

docputer 11-22-2010 06:54 PM

I had the same thing happen in 2005. Bought a good domain from GoDaddy, set the dns for my hosting, and put a blog up on it, then I got an email a day later that my purchase was cancelled.
I contacted them, and they told me that at the same time I purchased the domain, a guy in Israel purchased it, and they claimed that he bought it a few seconds sooner than my transaction.
I tried to fight it, but they insisted nothing could be done.
They credited my account for the domain, and that was it.

Good luck, but I think you are probably in the same situation.

BlackCrayon 11-22-2010 07:00 PM

it happens but has nothing to do with godaddy...

botfurom 11-22-2010 08:52 PM

Same happened to me either but I did not fight anymore since I don't like their service as well as their company policy.
